Hi all,

I'm planning on building a second vMix system, the first is an Omen driven laptop and I have to say works like a charm. But the use of thunderbolt connector between the laptop and the cards is a potential risk with a small unsecured plug...
I'd rather have a desktop vMix solution to bring on bigger gigs.

So here we are : I've seen a lot of Z390 motherboards which have 2 or 3 PCI slots, how could you fit 3 or 4 deckling cards ? (plus the GPU)

If I need a 10G ethernet I'll probably have to go for a network card which will fit another slot.

And I've heard Ryzen CPUs are faster (especially with multithreading) and cheaper. But do they work well with vMix ?

I'll probably have a couple of other questions later, but let's start with that ;)

Thanks all and have a great Xmas time !

you have to check how many lanes are on the PCI Bus
each decklink needs their own lanes also the GPU (I'm not sure at the moment how many for the Decklink and for the GPU)

@ ukcpw

xaver is correct. If wanting to use multiple capture cards in a system, you will need to build along the lines of the Obsidian Reference System with the X299 MB.

vMix is currently testing with the latest Ryzen Threadripper 3970x CPU, so we await the results sometime in the new year:

Until then, Intel i9 10900X would be the way to go.

@ ukcpw

I would look the the new X299X chipset based motherboards coming out

Take a look at the Gigabyte X299X DESIGNARE 10G as an option

Gigabyte X299X DESIGNARE 10G

Has dual 10G Ethernet ports built in.
