Greetings!

We have been using vmix for a long time. For a long time, the low frequency of updating the sound levels has been slightly annoying. I noticed that this frequency is approximately equal to 12-16 FPS. Sometimes this frequency is not enough for full monitoring of clock noise and instant deviations of the level from the norm (very fast overload, very fast signal loss). I understand that vmix is not an audio software, but still I think that this is a very important point in the broadcast. Do you plan to increase this FPS at least 2 times faster?

the point is that the low refresh rate misses some of the loudness measurements. so you can skip overdrive peaks or dips

I'm not sure that rate of update is what you're after. It could be that you want different metering ballistics. Instantaneous peak vs RMS weighted reading.

You could maybe use a 3rd party 64-bit VST3 meter plugin, like mvMeter2 from tb-software.com.Lots of options for meter scales & display size, and runs at the GUI/screen refresh rate. Only missing feature I can see is no Always-On-Top option for the window, so you would probably need to drag it onto a different display so it doesn't get covered when you click on the vMix GUI.

I sometimes use a meter that's entirely separate. It's from Darkwood Designs: https://darkwooddesigns.co.uk/pc2/widerange.html

Very configurable. It can hook into any audio device. Point it at the source device and away you go.

Yes, Paul at Darkwood has created a range of useful audio meters, a couple of which I've used for many years. They need to take a feed from a Windows sound Input Device, which means it's not necessarily possible to "hook" them into a vMix input or bus quite as easily as a VST plug-in, but if that's not an issue then they are an excellent choice and do have an Always-On-Top option for the meter window, which is very useful. (BTW, I did ask him a while back if he'd consider adding NDI input as an option, but I don't think he's wanting to continue development and add anything new.)
