I have been using Blackmagic Design micro converters to go from a laptop (duplicate display to pick up powerpoint) then going into the blackmagic micro converter ultimately over SDI into a Blackmagic Decklink Quad 2. This setup was working fine for 4 days then come back into the studio on the fifth day and I get a split image.
I tried changing all kinds of input settings, switched to a different Blackmagic card (Decklink Recorder SDI input) and was still getting this split image. As a last result I ran a 50' HDMI cable from the same laptop to the same Decklink Recorder card and had a perfect image.
This being said, my setup worked fine over SDI for 4 days then on the fifth day it seemed that the only way to get this laptop captured was over HDMI. I know there are other options such as Desktop Capture, NDI to pick up this laptop input (my client wants it done a certain way so I am not looking for different methods of capture but simply how to diagnose how this fragmented image occurred.
