I'm on windows 10 Enterprise 1803.

I enable the external output.

I open any app that sees web cams (skype desktop, chrome -> hangouts, chrome -> facebook video calls, discord video chat, etc)

The apps all see the vmix virtual cam outputs.

But all the apps get a vague hardware error when attempting to access the vmix cam or they just show black nothingness.

Please halp. <3

A screen shot of this vague hardware error message might be helpful in diagnosing this problem.

Skype wasnt working yesterday but is today for some reason (nothing changed).

I've tried firefox, chrome, brave, and dissenter for browsers. I've granted access to all sites webcam / microphones in the browser privacy settings.

I've also made sure windows' camera privacy is set to allow camera usage.

Since this is the Enterprise Edition, might there be something in the domain settings that stop the virtual webcam driver?

This machine is not a member of a domain but I checked the active policy on the machine just to be sure and it is set to the default of "Not configured" which leaves it up to the user in the normal Control panel -> privacy -> camera settings.

Also -- if there was something in windows causing the issue I would expect it to not work on anything. But Skype is using the camera ok. Also other web cam devices work on this machine.

It's tough to debug something that's really not visible. Unless maybe vMix has some related logging that could be enabled.

I'd be inclined to create a new user and try it in an clean profile.

Failing that, I'd try a clean install of the OS.

Do you have the Windows Media Extensions installed. I was on a Windows N version and ran into so much trouble that I reinstalled to a standard PRO version. Since then it's flawless.
