Martin, I think I'm doing a very poor job of explaining myself. I am very sorry and apologize for that, let me try again and explain myself what the problem is, but first, some known facts:
1) It is a fact that vMix supports 640x360 as an option for OUTPUT resolution, no question about that
2) It is also a fact that vMix does 'NOT' support 640x360 as INPUT resolution, its simply not in the pull down list when selecting a capture device
3) It is my understanding that 'matching' input and output resolutions is the most efficient form of capture as no downsampling and/or scaling is involved. Are we good so far?
4) I can not 'possibly' match the OUTPUT resolution that YouTube is encouraging me to use if there is no INPUT resolution option for it to match.
I have a Lenovo T430 with 3 Logitech C615 USB Cameras, I have tried all scenarios I can think of to broadcast using the least ammount of CPU so video and audio don't get out of sync and/or choppy, here's what I have tried:
a) 1920x1080 INPUT capture is NOT possible as my computer freezes and does not allow me to add USB Capture devices when adding more than 1 device. I assume this to be a hardware limitation (USB bus? not sure?)
b) 1280x720 and 1024x576 INPUT capture WORKS but uses lots of CPU, so when streaming starts video is choppy and audio gets out of sync.
c) 640x480 INPUT capture works great and is VERY efficient in terms of CPU usage, I have broadcasted LIVE for more than 2 hours with NO problems, but this is a 4:3 aspect ratio resolution and does not match my output resolution.
Based on my experience (NOT scientific evidence or fact) "I believe" that 640x360 will perform as good (if not better) than the 640x480 resolution
above, as I'll be matching the output resolution for youtube LIVE and no scaling will be involved.
Based on the above, I believe that having 640x360 as INPUT resolution will solve both my CPU usage problems and aspect ratio mismatch, thats why I asked if I can expect vMix to offer 640x360 as INPUT resolution in the near future.
I'm not demanding a feature nor conditioning my purchase decision on this anymore, I'll probably use vMix anyway as I found VidBlaster to use more CPU resources and I really don't want to keep looking for other alternatives, vMix is amazing but in opinion (and needs) is lacking something I desperately need.
Martin, thanks for listening. Appreciate it.
Thanks,
