Hi again,
in the last months I didn't dealed much with live streaming. More video production stuff. So, this topic had no priority for me.
But a few days ago I rolled up this problem and studied old forum threads and I saw on Blackmagic Forum that other people had the exact same issue. And Blackmagic came out with a Converters Update which fixed this problem.
I tested it and now 50p with Canon Legria/Vixia runs fine. :-)
I never get a response for this from Blackmagic support. :-(
Just to bring this thread to an end.
Regards Andreas

great advice, thanks so much. Despite that, my Canon G40 will not supply 1080@50p to vMix, only 50i (which is really interlaced / I see combing).
the route is: G40 1080p out over hdmi, BMD micro converter hdmi-to-sdi, sdi into a BMD Duo 2 in a Sonnet Thunderbolt 3 box, box into an Acer Helios 500 laptop.
Will try it over a Birddog Studio later, maybe that works.
vMix has a 720/50 canvas, tried the recording (AVCHD, LPCM) settings on the G40 as mentioned. G40 has latest firmware. Running latest vMix version. In BlackMagic Media Express, the same thing is at issue, i.e. no picture at 1080/50.
UPDATE: i put the latest firmware on the micro converters, my Duo 2, and my BMD Mini Recorder. In a way, this only made it worse: over sdi (via the micro converters) all tries at 1080 (p25, p50, i50) now revert to 720p50 ! The 'problem' seems to be the sdi conversion. If i use an HDMI connection (to the Mini Recorder), at least I can use 1080i50; p25 and p50 don't work.
thanks for any suggestions !

On my G40, I tried 1080p and 1080i, neither works over the micro sdi converter.
