Hi vmixers! I'm running into a specific issue and maybe there's simple solution I just haven't thought of yet.

On our set, we have a TV in the background that I am controlling via Vmix on External Output 2. I am able to change the input going to this External Output by creating a shortcut which "works" but isn't exactly the solution I was hoping for. There isn't a way to adjust this transition from what I can see but I would love to fade between the inputs going to External Output 2. Is there a solution for this that exists in Vmix?

Cheers in advance.

@ HamishBode

Unfortunately, External Output 2 is only configurable "to be" or "not to be" and there is no way to apply a transition if wanting to change its source Input, it is basically just a hard cut.

@IceStream - thanks for the reply!

I think I'll put in a feature request to see if a duration field can be added to the SelectExternalOutput function.

Beyond that, can you think of any creative way to have an input be sent to External Output 2 that would be able to receive a set of inputs that could be faded between? It may not be possible or maybe I'm missing and extremely obvious solution!

Use NDI to feed a 2nd vMix (or OBS) with your inputs

That's what I was thinking too. Could probably put a laptop aside for this. Appreciate the input @DWAM!

Maybe another creative way would be to set the output 2 to a fixed input. On the input use a multiview and the alpha to fade from one layer to the other. Short HowTo
1. create virtual input for the both shots. Lets assume they are #3 and #4
2. Create a blank input (#5) go to multiview and set #3 and #4 in layer 1 and 2 respectively.
3. Set the output #2 to show input #5 (the multiview you just created)
4. Now changing alpha of input #4 will fade it and you will see input #3 on output #2. You can link a midi fader or whatever in the shortcuts to control the alpha.

Hope that helps.
