I'm trying to make a record file, as MXF, Anyone know of a way to get vMix to record to MXF XDCAM 4:2:2? This is for use in another facility where they require this format for all recordings.

Ok so I had a dumb moment, I found MXF, however, in "quality" I know what the usual stuff is such as 1080 59.94i 29.97p but there are numbers before it I have no idea what they mean "145 1080 59.94i, 29.97p" What does the leading 145 mean?

Also, when I tried to record, I am given an error a second or two after starting saying the recording stopped unexpectedly. Any ideas on how I can solve this?

MXF is a professional container for broadcast standards. So don't expect it to be "plug and play" or "click and see what happens, I might get lucky"... It's all about compliance and specs, it's not up to you to decide what you can do or not. You must conform to the specs.

I'm aware of that, its a format that is broadcast standard. I have been asked to use the MXF container with XDCAM 4:2:2 codec at 50mbps. I'm not trying to "hope I get lucky" I'm trying to get vMix to output a format that is of the broadcast standard that is fairly common.

Not possible. got it.

Well that sucks, was hoping to use vMix for this workflow which requires this for many hundreds of videos produced, but that doesn't seem possible now without transcoding.

I said it's not possible "by default" internally but vMix has everything you need to feed an MXF recorder

I was hoping for a turnkey default solution, rather than spend time configuring and figuring out how to feed an external MXF recorder. Sure anything is possible with outputs, but it requires time, effort, software, configuring. I'll just use another production method that can generate MXF.

Withthe next version vMix will have better recording capabilities. But they will use more or less a propriatary codec for that if I understood the announcement correct.

yes , i dont agree with it .... not for all editing software.... not a standard....
vMIx should have a XDCAM HD 50 MXF recording capability.... because is a broadcast standard....
also just like AVC Intra 100 MXF
