weird behavior:

when i'm streaming , and maybe watching the stream on vmix computer, but i cannot confirm yet, sometime the output to fmle freezes.
a stop start of external output fixes.

any clues what i do wrong?

What graphics card do you have in the system?

Ok, a couple of things to check:

1. Does the FPS in FMLE drop to zero when it pauses?
2. When it happens, click the i button next to External to see if vMix is dropping the frames or if it is happening in FMLE

Have you seen this issue again recently?

I can't recreate it in my own testing but I have received a couple of reports and would like to get to the bottom of it.
If anyone is also seeing this issue whereby the external output stops, please let me know so I can investigate further.

In particular I would be interested to know if the dropped frames starts increasing rapidly in the "i" window when it freezes.

Regards,

Martin

I have had this happen to a clients system. The stream video would freeze but audio keeps going. It doesn't happen right away and is very random.
The only thing I could find wrong or odd is the FME frame rate jumped around. I ended up rolling them back to version 9 and all was good.
I saw this on another system when the video did not freeze but dropped to 7fps and took a reboot to get it back.
I'm still looking in to what's going on.
Both systems are +3Ghz i7, 16gigs ram, GT620 Nvidia w/ 1gig. one has BM Intensity pro cards the other has Viewcast 440

I'm trying to see whether i can find logic, but to be honest i can't

first i thought that it wsa mainly when i was also viewing the output of my stream in flash, that still is an option but it's not 'when i watch flash it does this'
then i thought it was a sync issue, my environment is hostile to say the least (sometimes my computer freezes from gforces) so maybe a little movement in the hdmi wiring caused disconnect/connects, but i also saw this behaviour while replaying a file in my office in silence and 20 degrees C
I once checked fmle and as far as i can remember it gave me 25fps, as said above, audio is still ok, and i too have never experienced this in v9.
CPU isn't used very much, render time is not high (or at least i've seen much higher without the issue)
come think of it, i think even the local recorder doesn't freeze, but i'll check that later (the recorded files are 10 hours at least each, and i haven't written down th freeze moments)

I wish i could give you more info, but unfortunatly work is stacked 2meters high on my desk, so debugging time is limited.

For those that have seen this issue could you check the recordings (defaulted to Documents\vMixStorage) for any error log files
around the time the freeze occurred.

These log files are named yyyymmdd.xx.log where xx is a random number.

As an incentive, I will be providing a free HD license to whoever provides the information that pinpoints the cause.
(This may end up being a specific error message, or a combination of hardware and/or settings that cause this issue)

Thanks,

Martin

Hi Martin,

I must complement on your desire to fix things, you prove once again that you take things seriously.

PS, i shall put some extra effort in this, since i'm building an extra studio ;)

This is a log file from a clients system that was acting up with very low frame rates.

There should be a different error for this particular issue.
That error looks like the error that appears when starting the decklink output if the hardware is not ready or available.

I could confirm this problems too.
Video at vMix Video device is frozen, vMix audio is working. In wMix, video is frozen too). Closing and opening preset fix this. Streaming done outside vMix to IIS Smooth Stream server.
- Some reports are connecting this issue to losing internet connectivity, but cannot imagine how could be related to this issue.
- 4 same streaming sets, one location, 4 diferent streams - 2 days, 8hours per day - 2 sets ok, 2sets was affected with this issue 1-3x per day.

Only log i found on affected computer (I am not sure if related to this issue):

Sounds like a similar but driver related issue.
See below for the fix:

This issue has now been (hopefully) resolved!

From what I have discovered the problem can happen on the Virtual Output due to a rare problem when starting
a second or third recording during the same vMix session.

Until vMix 11 is released, a temporary workaround is to always click Setup next to Recording and click OK prior to clicking Start for each new recording that is made.

Could those that have seen this issue confirm it only occurs when using the recording as well and when multiple recordings have been made in a session?
(For example when recording for say 10 seconds to make sure everything is ok and then stopping and starting a recording again when the production starts?)

Thanks,

Martin

As vMix 11 is still a couple of weeks away I have released an update to vMix 10 that resolves this issue:

http://www.vmix.com.au/download/vmix10.exe (10.0.0.62)

Please report here if the issue is still happening including any yyymmdd.xx.log files in your documents\vmixstorage folder.

Martin

hi again,

i've ran the new version for a few days, but i still have the issue
i made a screenshot of all relevant programs at once, but don't know where to send it.
fmle says 10fps instead of 25, but is totally frozen.
vmix says 25fps and 1ms render time, 4% cpu

the only things in the log are 'cannot continue recording, disk full' last night, and a few fails to add an rstp stream.

i must honestly say i don't know exactly when it failed :( because i was doing different things. and when i started playiing with video i didn't mind the fmle, just vmix.

i did stop start the external output and it runs again.

I'm open for teamview access or something if you're interested.

I would recommend anybody experiencing this issue to install the latest version.

the counter now is at 72 hours in which i had disk fulls, start stop of recordings in both this 10.63 and 11 preview, but both still seem to go strong
