Hello all,

I am looking for virtual Green Screen software I can use with vMIX and my Logitech C922 camera.

The ChromaCam software recommended by Logitech does not work with vMIX.

Looking for something stable & reliable...anyone got ideas?

FYI...looking for answers from those that have actually used the product, not those that "heard it through the grapevine".

Regards!

Hi and welcome to the Forum. Can you explain what you need to do, that cannot be done with vMix? (e.g. https://www.vmix.com/kno...hroma-key-setup-in-vmix)

Chromacam was intended to let gamers add themselves over top of their game play, typically working with OBS or similar. It attempts to fake a composite by trying to discern foreground from background without a proper green screen.

This presents three problems:

(1) Sometimes it just doesn't work at all.
(2) Even when it kinda works, it doesn't work very well. YouTube abounds with examples of this.
(3) It's a CPU hog.

This example I just made is typical.

You'll get way better results by just getting the proper green screen and some lights.

El Gato makes a nice pop-up green screen just for the purpose. https://amzn.to/2OQFSyS

You can get a background, stands and a light kit for around $120. https://amzn.to/2Md2POf

Hello richardgatarski

I just want to add a simple virtual background to my videos...nothing high end; very basic.

I'm new to vMIX and was not aware it had the feature built in.

I'll look into the link you provided and get back to you.

Regards!

Hello mjgraves

I'm an occasional video creator and was trying to avoid putting out mor that 30-40 bucks for a solution, but I'll definitely look into your recommendations...and thanks for the screenshot and the ensight to the limitations of the software.

Regards!

A green paper or plastic table cloth & some clothes pins. A couple of dirt cheap lights.

Check out Tom Sinclair's studio tour on YouTube. He gets it done well and inexpensively.

Hello richardgatarski

Got a chance to play with the option you suggested this past weekend.

I THINK I followed the instructions but did not get the results I was looking to achieve.

I got the CAPTURE view screen up and configured, and the IMAGE view screen up and configured, but could not get them to "merger" together.

Do I actually need a green background to make this happen?

If so I am looking for a software solution rather than a physical hardware [green cloth background] solution.

My apologies for not making that clear.

Regards!

Perhaps try https://www.tridef.com/products/smartcam

I doubt it will work with vMix, but they appear to have versions for XSplit and other game-centric apps.

Interestingly enough, it does appear to be functional (I hesitate to say 'work') with vMix. However, the results are similar to those from Chromacam, as seen in the example above.
