Hey! Got a PTZOptics 12x NDI camera... and loving it!

The image is coming up in vMix. I can control the camera with remote control and via web browser (set to 192.168.1.200). However I cannot get vMix to be able to control the PTZ of the camera... connecting via PTZ Optics VISCA and Sony VISCA both kick back errors, using the same IP address.

I am sure I am missing something. Halp! Thanks!

I am assuming that you have followed the instructions here: https://www.vmix.com/hel...ontrolVirtualInputs.html

and that you have the right edition of vMix: https://www.vmix.com/purchase/#comparisontable

Virtual Inputs no help, as I cannot connect to the camera to begin with. Otherwise, I'd be making them all day.

OK. Can you confirm that the IP address of vMix is on the same subnet/range as the PTZOptics camera?

Confirmed. The range is 192.168.1.1 to 249.

This is a Static IP at 200.

OK. Now confirm that you have selected the PTZ optics camera in the device type dropdown and then entered the camera's IP address and hit connect

Doubly confirming - PTZ Optics VISCA with 192.168.1.200 returns "Could not connect to PTZ" with the code "PTZ_Connect"... and just for giggles "Sony VISCA over IP" returns "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time..."

The stream DOES appear on vMix. Just cannot connect to and control the camera from the PTZ tab of the input's settings.

Next. In a browser, go to the admin page of the camera. Confirm that the
camera's webserver is responding



Then in the camera's network page check the following:


Port Settings

HTTP Port number:
(80)
RTSP Port:
(554)
PTZ Port:
(5678)

Next turn off your computer's firewall and try to connect to the camera in vMix. If this is successful my guess is that the PTZ port is blocked. Allow access through the firewall.

BINGO! Disabled Firewall worked. Considering it is "PTZ Optics VISCA UDP", I am assuming I need to set a UDP of 5678 to be clear on my router to the IP in question... can't figure out exactly how to do that on my ASUS at the moment. Working on it. Thank you, and if you have any guidance on clearing the port for the camera please send it my way.

FWIW it seems like it is working still, after a program re-start and the firewall being enabled again on the router. Something tells me this won't last.

It can be a problem having a static ip address assigned inside a DHCP scope. Try making the DHCP scope smaller, and assign the static ip right outside.

Make sure that you can ping the camera and access the web interface..
