vMix was SOLID on an old i7 2600 machine.
I've upgraded to a new laptop and am experiencing strange crashes.
Sometimes I'll get thru 2+ hour live streams without any issues.
Other times, sometimes not even streaming, I'll get these crashes.

I see a "D3DERR_INVALIDCALL" message and then vMix Locks up, crashes out and I need to restart it.
I can't figure out what triggers it, as sometimes it does it when I'm not even touching the machine. I don't know if I'm pushing something too hard, have a bad component, or need a specific piece of software driver installed...

It's running vMix 20.0.0.55 on an Asus GL702V
Core i7 i7700HQ @2.8GHz
12GB ram
64bit
windows 10 Home
Version 1709
OS Build 16299.371
Got a Samsung SSD 960 Pro in it (Running off this)
And the stock HD as a second drive
Laptop has a GTX 1070 built in
Thunderbolt connected to a Sonnet Echo Express SE III with 2 Blackmagic Decklink Duo 2's installed
I'll typically be running 6-7 live inputs, usually cameras and a PC feed. I'll have a external SDI output, and the MuliView screen output thru HDMI to a monitor.
Sometimes I'll have PIP's going. Sometimes I'll have my lower 3rds generated by Data off an excel spreadsheet. Sometimes it'll crash while editing either of those, but sometimes it'll crash when I'm not even looking at the thing.
Currently I've had both the Low Latency Capture and High Input Performance Mode boxes checked. I think I've tried them on and off.
The Framerates and Render times don't seem to be pushing high levels, maybe 20-30 total?
Any ideas what I need to change or troubleshoot?

Hi Rocky,

As it is an Asus laptop it sounds like it is probably this:
https://www.vmix.com/kno...-flicker-on-some-laptops

(The article refers to flicker, but crashes and D3D errors are also a symptom)

Regards,

Martin

I like Asus hardware but most of their bundled software sucks. I'd start by uninstalling any kind of uneccessary Asus software and also any non essential nVidia nonsense.

Just wanted to reply after a few gig's worth of uses without crashes, that this seemed to take care of my problem. Thanks!
