the best laptop for streaming
I'm wondering if you know or who would recommend us the laptop for streaming with the vmix program. Namely, we currently have Lenovo Intel (r) Core ™ 5i-4210U CPU 1.70GHz 2.40 GHz, 12 gb ram win10 64-bit, Intel r HD graphics family, Nvidia GeForce 840M

We noticed when we used this laptop to stream us if we increased streaming quliti - Video Preset - The Veryfast cpu rises to 100% and shoots the connection. If we put Video Preset ultrafast or superfast then it's about 50% but everything is under the disaster. When we tried to do the same thing on our other desktop desktop, everything works ok because there is a lot of consolidation in the i7 and so on.
Does anybody have any record that the laptop is good for streaming, we are talking about full HD resolution?

All ideas are good :)

I forgot to mention how we use the JVC HM200 camera and send the signal via the LAN cable. Everything works fine while nothing on the laptop is working and while the ultra fast preset option

Hi Hall

Here's the "Reference system" for laptops on the vMix site: https://www.vmix.com/pro...ce-systems.aspx#sapphire

ASUS 17.3" ROG Strix GL702VM On Amazon there appears to be about 4-5 different "flavors" of that laptop.

BTW if anyone has links to Amazon, New Egg or whatever to the specific systems indicated for Sapphire that would be helpful for Hall -- and others.

The i5 4210U is only a duo core processor, so it's not going to have very much speed/horsepower. There are many laptops out there, new or used, that will perform better. It depends on your budget.

Stay away from any of the "U" Intel processors. The i7-7500U is a duo core CPU. It's not very fast/powerful.

Also, with vMix you want NVIDIA graphics, not AMD, since that is what it is optimized for.

https://www.vmix.com/software/supported-hardware.aspx

And if you go the laptop route, make sure you get one with Thunderbolt.

High-end gaming laptops have the right sort of hardware.

That said, if you're serious about full-HD you might be better served with a traditional desktop. Desktops cam be dramatically more powerful.

A year or so ago I got a laptop without thunderbolt. I didn't even know what use I would have for "thunderbolt".

I wish I got one with Thunderbolt -- so you should definitely get on that has thunderbolt capabilities.

@ Hall3008

Although both those laptops have fairly good specs, they would not necessarily be considered the "BEST" for LIVE Streaming with vMix.
A lot will depend on your overall set-up workflow and streaming needs. You will likely have a hard time connecting more than 2 conventional HD cameras to those laptops as USB ports are all that are available.
Such would be the advantage, as rowby points out, of Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gbit/s port vs the 10 Gbit/s of USB 3.1 Type C) where you can effectively add an Expansion Box with a PCIe Capture card like a Decklink Quad 2 for up to 8 cameras. Neither of those laptops can accommodate that (which is fine if you don't need or want that, I'm just sayin...)
Also note, vMix prefers CPU's that are 3GHz or faster, the i7 7700HQ are quite good, but are only 2.5GHz.
Just my thoughts.

The Dell Inspiron 15 inch 7577 gaming laptop does have Thunderbolt 3. A company I'm working with just bought one. For their budget, I think it will work well and has some flexibility with Thunderbolt. I recommended a Sonnet Echo Express and Magewell capture card to compliment the buy.

The Acer does not seem to have Thunderbolt, only USB 3.1. I've never owned an Acer, so wouldn't be my first choice. If you don't like Dell, take a look at MSI, ASUS or perhaps a HP ZBook.
