If you had indicated which resolution you were trying to use, it would have been useful!

AFAIK this webcam only supports resolutions up to 640x480 annd certainly not 16:9 format

Thank you for that information. Sadly, you can't even find the specs on this camera on the Logitech website. Neither could I find ANYWHERE on the settings of the software (Logitech that is not vMix) to change the resolution.

After your reply about the max res. I selected the 640 x 480 and it worked - however it is the wrong aspect ratio as you also pointed out, so it is stretched horizontally.

It's not looking like this would be the ideal camera to use for my purposes. But has been fine up to now for skype.

Most video editing I've done up to now has been from video captured with good cameras at high res. and pulled in as files. This is my first foray into video streaming so I didn't know how deficient this webcam would be for this purpose.
Any suggestions for a cheap alternative.

I'm mainly setting this up to be able to use green screen to clean up the background image for live tutorial streaming over skype.

Thanks. But $200 for a camera seems overkill when I just want to skype someone with a tutorial. I totally get where you are coming from if I was trying to do some sort of professional stuff but I'm just tutoring students so I think just a better webcam might suffice.

Yes I was checking out the Logitech c920 prices and reviews on youtube.
Might be good enough. Even considered some cheaper models with similar specs from Asia

Actually the logitech fusion webcam that I have has zoom and pan and tilt - so some webcams do have that.
The Logitech C930e has software for pan tilt and zoom 4x digital and cost about $75

For anyone with a similar question I'll just post this last update.

In the end I purchased a
* * * * Logitech Model Number: V-U0031
* * * * Pro Webcam Ultra Wide Angle HD Webcam

And it works great with vMix
I went to the support page of logitech and typed in the model number and downloaded the drivers for W8
To control the initial setup of the camera - i.e. zoom and tilt etc. I installed "Logitech Gaming Software" supposed to be for a different model camera but works fine for this.

Anyway like I say the chroma works fine and the resolution is fine also for what I need. I am just using green screen to external and out to skype at 16:9 AR. Good for recording also to 1280:720.
