I just downloaded vMix today and I can't get it to accept my Logitech Quickcam Fusion. It keeps coming back with the error message; Capture Resolution is not supported by this device/
I've continually changed the resolution at the top of the page on the Input Select but nothing works.
By the way the Camera works fine in all other apps like skype etc.
I'm using a 64bit machine running on windows 8.
If it is NOT compatible what cheapish camera IS compatible for streaming via skype etc.
Thanks

Hi!
If you had indicated which resolution you were trying to use, it would have been useful!
AFAIK this webcam only supports resolutions up to 640x480 annd certainly not 16:9 format

As DWAN stated that model only supports 640x480
So try this to see if it works:
Resolution:640x480 Frame: NTSC 30p Video Format: YUY2

Thank you for that information. Sadly, you can't even find the specs on this camera on the Logitech website. Neither could I find ANYWHERE on the settings of the software (Logitech that is not vMix) to change the resolution.
After your reply about the max res. I selected the 640 x 480 and it worked - however it is the wrong aspect ratio as you also pointed out, so it is stretched horizontally.
It's not looking like this would be the ideal camera to use for my purposes. But has been fine up to now for skype.
Most video editing I've done up to now has been from video captured with good cameras at high res. and pulled in as files. This is my first foray into video streaming so I didn't know how deficient this webcam would be for this purpose. Any suggestions for a cheap alternative.
I'm mainly setting this up to be able to use green screen to clean up the background image for live tutorial streaming over skype.
thanks for your prompt reply also.

Specs are here : https://www.amazon.com/L...cam-Fusion/dp/B000AA2IC8If you set your vMix project to SD 4:3, your image won't be strechted. Keep away from webcams or USB devices. If you want good results buy a small FullHD camcorder with HDMI. There are a lot of models under $200 (or less)

Thanks. But $200 for a camera seems overkill when I just want to skype someone with a tutorial. I totally get where you are coming from if I was trying to do some sort of professional stuff but I'm just tutoring students so I think just a better webcam might suffice.
But thanks for the info.

Yes I was checking out the Logitech c920 prices and reviews on youtube. Might be good enough. Even considered some cheaper models with similar specs from Asia

I understand a camcorder is more expensive than a webcam but when dealing with green screens, it gives better results. Besides it has a zoom when a webcam is only be a wide angle.

There are a lot of models under $200 (or less) There is definitely a place for webcams in simpler projects. The trouble with a camcorder is that, while it might be inexpensive, it forces you to buy a capture card or dongle. Just adds to the cost. Software PTZ comes at the cost of degraded resolution. Also, the PTZ is quite coarse. Doesn't really allow you much control of the shot. With a C920/C930 you can set the webcam to 1080p, then reposition the shot into a 720p vMix project. The Logitech BCC950 is under $200 and has physical PTZ. It's basically like the C930, but with mechanical capability and a built-in (worthless) speakerphone. I have used it in desktop applications where I wanted some flexibility in framing the shot.

For anyone with a similar question I'll just post this last update. In the end I purchased a * * * * Logitech Model Number: V-U0031 * * * * Pro Webcam Ultra Wide Angle HD Webcam And it works great with vMix I went to the support page of logitech and typed in the model number and downloaded the drivers for W8 To control the initial setup of the camera - i.e. zoom and tilt etc. I installed "Logitech Gaming Software" supposed to be for a different model camera but works fine for this. Anyway like I say the chroma works fine and the resolution is fine also for what I need. I am just using green screen to external and out to skype at 16:9 AR. Good for recording also to 1280:720. I purchased the camera on AliExpress - link here; https://www.aliexpress.c...cam-DDP/32482980202.htmlHope this is of some help to others.

FWIW, the Logitech C920 was the leading webcam for several years. It's truly 1080p30 capable, supporting both MJPEG and H264 compression.
With the introduction of their new Brio 4K model the price on the C920 has dropped. Originally priced at $100, I now see it routinely offered for around $50-60 USD. That makes it a great value.
For a talking head it creates perfectly serviceable video.
