This is the one I use for easy stuff and tests at work/home on many computers from old to newer ones. Pretty basic but latest versions brought many improvements. I can't complain about reliability, needs a restart from time to time as many services. Works a little bit better on Linux tho. RTMP seems a little bit less accurate than MPEG/TS with MistServer.

For production I prefer Wowza obviously. But it's not free... That's the reference product for streaming platforms.

Did you try MistServer? For such things it should work perfectly well.

BTW Wowza is used a stand alone application on a dedicated server. I wouldn't install it on the same machine as vMix.

You will definately need to setup port forwarding on your router, but you still need a RTMP server.

You must configure the vidius to stream to your public IP on your router with the stream name as a parameter like

rtmp://ipaddress:1935/live/key

Setup port forwarding for port 1935 to route incoming to your mist server on port 1935.

Mist will identify the origin encoder thanks to the key (for example vidiu1, vidiu2 etc...)

Now I made nginx rtmp server on Raspberry Pi on Debian, working well but I don't know how many streams it will transfer until burn , it has no cooler. Any experiences, vMixers?
And second, also important - when stream stops , on sender side, vMix gives information - stream error. But when transfer is active again vMix no reloads stream, I have to back to gear, change input and manually reload it. And I have no information, that stream is active again. Very difficult operation.

Suggest: Try Nimble. I was chasing lower latency and more streams per CPU core (so more viewers less cost). I ended up on Nimble. Wowza was good I used it for many years, Nimble for my needs is better. I found Nimble because I was using WMS Panel with Wowza to get accurate streaming statistics. It was free as I had a WMS Panel subscription already for Wowza. The rest is history for me.

My experience has been on Centos 7, so can't speak for all other operating systems.

Nimble is different to Wowza in many ways. It's WMSPanel collects all your viewer data and configures the Nimble server(s). The reports from WMSPanel are really effective at showing management the performance of a live stream or video on demand project. Tech support from both Nimbler and Wowza are excellent in my opinion. I've used support from both companies. Both respond well to the tickets/emails I lodge with them.

Thank You Guys, I agree that using server on RPi is too risky, even using 2 streams, but important streams..
I will try now nible again, by Your advice , it's no free ,but not so "heavy" as wowza if I would like to install and use it on the same machine as vMix.

I wrote this some months ago in the feature request forum and got some support, but Martin told me at a expo meeting that he doesn't like the idea to use rtmp as a camera source protocol.
He prefers rtsp. I hope he will change his mind when more people support the idea.

But Cube and Bond deliver rtsp, Bond II mpeg-ts without extra license. Vidiu is the only device with rtmp only.
