Guys have you got recommendations for cheap camcorders with LANC control?
Cheap as possible as long as they're 1080, any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi
I recommend Canon HF G series. The models with DIGIC3 image processor are under $800 with pretty good results. DIGIC4 models (HF G30/40) are slightly above $1000 and worth it.

Also the Sony HDR CX380 works with LANC and does 1080p. It would need a Sony VMC-AVM1 Multiport Adapter ($20-$29) and a breakout cable for the LANC. I've used one and it works with LANC. You can still find the CX380 on eBay.
DWAM suggestion of a Canon HF G series is a solid choice. Found a nice HF G30 that works well.

Does Lanc support iris? I saw it on a Lanc protocol sheet years ago but haven't seen a camera that does.

Yes it potentially does but LANC implementation is not always complete on cameras and I never found a LANC controller which allows iris control. Usually they have zoom and focus controls. An alternative to LANC is to use Wifi for iris. On Canons/Sonys it works very well. LANC protocol reference. http://www.boehmel.de/lanc.htm

Can't tell for all Sony models, but with a7s and RX10, it's working pretty well Also working with Canon HF G30. Canon HF G25 has no Wifi support.

Most Canons that I am aware of use the original 2.5mm Lanc cable directly and don't require an adapter. Newer Sony's on the otherhand may need a 2.5mm to AVR cable and then an AVR - multiport cable (the one on the Amazon link).

Also note that many of the newer Sony consumer models (after about 2014 or so) dont support Lanc in any form. For example, the FDR-AX100 supports Lanc, but the newer AX33 and AX53 don't.
