Has anyone here built a Mini itx system?

Obviously a huge limitation is having only one pci slot. That would require you to make a decision about a GPU or Capture device.


I cannot find the page anymore for the vMix U system but would assume it was built on a mini itx board since it is 1U.
Was it just running off the CPU for processing?

A system build worth a look, having built two systems for clients. 19" 1U Short Depth (9.8") Rackmount PC - Intel® 6th Gen Core i7/i5/i3, H170 Chipset; Up to 32GB RAM, SSD or HDD, 1 x PCIe 3.0 x 16 (optional, via riser), 2 x LAN, DVI-D + HDMI Video, 4 x USB2, 8 USB3. Motherboard ASRock Z170M-ITX/ac http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z170M-ITXac/

vMix with Blackmagic Decklink Duo2 HD-SDI interface.

Client/s specification & usage: 3 x 1080i50 Sony HDC1500 cameras, 1 x 1080i50 HD-SDI output for MATV system, 1 x 1080i50 master recording and 1 x HD output for streaming. Other inputs include: 2 x DDR Video lists, 2 x Graphics (photos etc), 1 x PowerPoint, and multiple inputs for vMix Titles.

Dual boot Windows 8.1 Professional (redundancy), all Windows Store Apps removed, Classic Shell StartMenu, Classic Windows interface built on Samsung SSD EVO 500GB, with 2TB 2.5” HDD for multimedia.

How many camera feeds did you ingest with this system? Did you also stream at 1080 with it?

I have built the Mini ITX machine! Below are the specs:

I have a much larger computer in my studio but had the need to build this one to travel with for small shows.

With 3 HD-SDI feeds coming in and 3 HD videos looping while recording 1080 and streaming 1080 it runs at about 60% CPU.
Next upgrade will but an Nvidia GPU in the case and use an external device for capture.

I like your case. I would only put maybe i7 CPU. But its nice little case. Great

Why did you choose the BM Decklink Quad over the Duo 2? They have the same number of inputs/outputs, but the Duo2 is half the price?

Siroki - Thanks the case is decent. I will upgrade to an i7 when they release more Kaby Lake with Iris Pro.

Kelvin - I had it on the shelf already out of another machine. Otherwise I would have gone with the Duo2 and will in the future.

M.2 SSD was the game changer for me as the speed it works at it ridiculously fast.
4 times faster than traditional SSD.

Also I use my M.2 not as a OS drive but as my Capture, Record, and Playback drive.
