I have installed a new decklink duo 2 and I am able to view my cameras with a clear picture in Blackmagic Media Express. Vmix recognizes the back magic card and will accept the cameras when I add them. Vmix shows that I am getting audio from the cameras but the video is black. I am using vmix version 16.

I am using a Sony Pxw-x70 and a Sony Pxw-Z150.

I'm not very familiar with the decklink or vmix.

Any input would be appreciated.

Hi Daren,

Welcome to the vMix Support Forum. For the most part, a well behaved group.

Try different resolution / frame rate combinations. Like 1920x1080 @ 59.94i or 1920x1080 @ 29.97p. Those work for me with my BMD hardware.

Let us know how it goes.

BTW, great troubleshooting to try Media Express first. Smart guy!

hi daren,

the bm duo 2 as all bm cards come with a driver and a set of programmes.

one is the software controler for the card where you can configure input or output of the connections.

when you connect an input that software will also report the incomming signal, resolution and framerate. Vmix capture inpit should match that same setting.

if you configure the resolution wrongly, you will get an error in vmix, when you mis configure the framerate you will see a black screen but the audio coming in.

most likely your cam is interlaced so set framerate to interlaced. also check you cam settings and set it to interlaced or progressive depending options.

does your camera output sdi? then also check the sdi settings. do you convert hdmi to sdi, have a look at that too...

Try changing video format from default or UYVY to RGB32.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions. Do you think I should upgrade to version 18 or would there be any benefit in upgrading?

@ Daron Wilkins

Always beneficial to upgrade!
However, the benefits would be the new features of vMix, nothing relevant in regards to camera recognition from your BM card, that's been pretty much possible from day one with vMix.

After following the suggestions to try different camera settings and making sure they matched the decklink and vmix settings, I found that 1920X1080 30p worked just fine with vmix set to NTSC 29.97p rather than 30p.

Thanks again for all the help.

I have an Windows 7 64 Pro I7 PC, Decklink Duo 2 and Vmix. I'm running 2 cams into the decklink via SDI and bringing my primary audio in on the camera. If I record out on DUO-3 from the Decklink to a Samurai Recorder, I get an audio hit or dropout every 3-5 seconds. If I record on internal hard drive it's fine.

If I connect the mic to a Behringer USB Mixer and pull no audio from camera it's perfect, though I have to calculate audio delay. I would prefer to use the audio from camera so I can easily do a back up record in camera and have no sync issues.

Thanks!
