Is there a way to seperate the internet connections, so I can stream over ethernet cable, while using tally over wifi?

I sort of have this question myself. Trying to wrap my head around it.

For our next event, I'm fairly certain we're going to have a dedicated hard line run for our streaming. I suspect the venue's wifi will be on a separate network.

Our streaming machine has ethernet and wifi. How do we set it up such that vMix streams on the hard line, but uses the wifi for the webcontroller/tally? I can't quite picture it.

Has anyone done this?

I do this. I have a dual Ethernet port motherboard and use one port for Ethernet connection to network and the other for my connection to a wifi router. Works well for me.

Chuck

Just to clarify: The WiFi router has no internet connection it is just used to communicate with my devices for Tally and webcontroller. I can pull up my notes on my specific settings if you have trouble getting it working but it is fairly simple if you have 2 seperate ports.

that works if you have two ethernet conenction on different networks
one (for streaming) with gateway
the other (wifi / remote) without gateway

Ok . . . yeah. I was sort of coming to the conclusion that we'd provide our own wifi router. Our pc actually does have dual ethernet ports and wifi. We have a switch that we typically use to split our dedicated line. I guess we can just plug in our own wifi there as well.

Only have one camera that we're going to put a tally on. Thinking an old iPod touch will do the trick.

Thanks,

-Brian
