I would like an updated FFMPEG release in vmix 18.
FFMPEG 3.x also supports Intel QUICKSYNC, but vMix 17 still uses release 2.8.

Since Graphic cards nowadays use a minimal of 2 slots, we need tower PC's to get all cards mounted.
However when using quicksync we could build smaller units without grapics card.

I managed to update the ffmpegformats.xml and replaced ffmpeg myself.
Recording in ffmpeg format hardly used additional CPU. However, i could not stream anymore since LIBFAAC was missing.
I could not find a way to get live streaming using acc instead of libfaac (or other ways to influence the stream ffmpeg command)

It would be great if vMix 18 would use ffmpeg 3 with quicksync support.

+1 for an update to FFMPEG with Intel Quick Sync enabled.

It would also be a gigantic benefit for my application to enable FFMPEG to generate a MOV timecode track based on the current system time. (FFMPEG can generate the timecode track, the problem is specifying the track's start time dynamically).

As a test I simply replaced the FFMPEG.exe binary (Windows 10) installed with vMix for the build of FFMPEG.exe 3.3.3 by Zeranoe. I was then able to modify vMix's ffmpegformats.xml file as follows and successfully leverage Quick Sync with an Intel NUC6i7KYK NUC for reduced GPU and CPU loads.

For a given <format>
<video codec="h264_qsv">
...
<command>-pix_fmt nv12

The "h264_qsv" codec invokes Quick Sync if FFMPEG has been built with libmfx. The nv12 pixel format is required by Quick Sync.

Nowadays FFMPEG version is already 4.0.2.
Support for Intel Quick Sync Video give also nice encoding performance improvement.

Please update FFMPEG version and enable Intel Quick Sync Video support!

Why don't you just use EXTERNAL to feed the FFMPEG version of your choice with your own commands? Or NDI since FFMPEG now supports NDI feeds ?
vMix is so "flexable", it brings everything you need to do whatever you want. Don't wait for such new features, create them yourselves! It's so easy!
