Is there a way to specify which overlay will appear on top of another if you layer them on the screen? An example is to have a scoreboard displayed on the screen, then have a sponsors name or message slide up behind it and appear over the top for a period of time and then disappear.

I suppose re-odering might be a solution. I thought like you the they were progressive. That 1 would overlay on 2 and both over 3, or vis versa, but that does not seem to happen in a consistent way. It could simply be that I haven't grasped the logic of the layering, but I want to be able to bring in an overlay ---say no 1, and then whenever I click 2 know hat it will always appear behind the first overlay.

Most of my designs all use the overlays for xaml depending on what is required.

I use overlay 2 when overlay 1 is active for scorebug and show +1 with animated flag over the top of the score for example.
This could be country flag when they score, after 1 sec it will animate out and overlay 2 will turn off.
Same with all the advertisements banners and stats popups which slide up from the scorebug

When I said 'layered progressively', that is exactly what I meant, 1 is at the bottom progressing to 4 (5 in MultiView) on top, and as Richard says, that has always been consistent. Once you understand all those dynamics and how vMix handles them, it's just a matter of planning out appropriately.
