Hello everyone,
I'm trying to install a streaming video infrastructure with IP cameras. Vmix properly supports the IP camera D-Link DCS-5222L (via rtsp :/ / 192.168.0.101/play1.sdp) but I can not view FOSCAM FI9821W IP camera (via rtsp :/ / admin: admin@192.168.0.102: 80/videoMain).
I know that the rtsp address is correct since it works with VLC.

From other posts I downloaded "rtspinformation.exe" and the response was:

RTSP/1.0 401 Unauthorized
CSeq: 1
Date: Thu, February 20 2014 12:00:07 GMT
WWW-Authenticate: Digest realm = "LIVE555 Streaming Media", nonce = "eaec34a50e84e77372724d3021270aa3"

How can I fix the problem?

Hello,
I managed to capture only the video signal. The sound I think is on a separate channel and do not know how to configure it on Vmix.

Hi, i'm getting the exact same error as you with my foscam 9821w V2. How did you get the video stream working?

Thanks,

I got to see the video signal only with vlc. If I can not I'll have to switch to other software.

Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, VLC works fine for me as well.

I cannot get the stream in vmix to connect to the Foscam. I have a feeling that it's because the Foscam username/password is encrypted and vmix does not seem to have an option for sensing for encryption of the password.

I do not know if the error is the password access. I tried to delete the password from the menu Foscan, but still can not capture the signal.

Hello!

Reading elsewhere on this forum someone asked the question could vMix add username and password to the rtsp
links. I think that that is the problem with the Foscam 9821w. I have one (the v2) and I kept getting 401 not authorised error.
So what you can do is using VLC is restream and remove the need for a username and password.

Open the rtsp file from the foscam in VLC and then in the media menu select STREAM or press ctrl-s.

In this 'Open Media' Menu select the network tab.
Paste in your foscam rtsp stream eg.
rtsp://192.168.Y.Y:88/videoMain
Click on the Stream button in the bottom corner

A Wizard will pop up (VLC 2.1) and you should see the foscam ip in the source dialog box.

On the next page 'Destination setup' select rtsp (you can leave the display locally option unchecked for better cpu usage).

Next page set you port number (it defaults to 8554)
in the the path box you can set what you like so I put
/stream

Next page UNSELECT the activate transcoding
in profile choose
video h264 + MP3 (MP4)

Now your rtsp converted stream should be
rtsp://192.168.X.X:8554/stream

Remember 192.168.x.x is the address of the machine running VLC NOT the foscam which is 192.168.y.y

USER and Password removed...
This works for me in Vmix 12

I'm surprised someone from vMix hasn't jumped in here, will they change that in the program?

I'm looking into adding an additional authentication method to support these cameras.
If someone is able to put up a public rtsp address for their camera that would really help!

Hello Martin,

This is a good page to pick up recent working streams (note they are marked in blue, the red ones don't work)
http://www.vlctest.eu.pn/

I tested the stream below just now (see date of post) and when I pop it into vMix 12.0.0.129(X64) it reported an error.
Yet if I use VLC to restream it (using above method) then it works great!!!

rtsp://l125.polwizjer.com:1935/pl/2014tvcanalplussport

Foscam run a number of http streams from their site which require user/pass combos but may not be of any use to you.
http://www.foscam.com/links.aspx
I'm sure if you told them what you were trying to do they might post a rtsp stream for you requiring a username/psswd!

I have a few people interested in your solution over wirecast so it would be great if I could show this to them
working. So far the advantage wirecast has over you here is that it can automatically pick up a ONVIF camera.

I'm running Win 8.1 Pro With an Nvidia GTX 550Ti Card (335.23 drivers)and testing with a Foscam 19821W V2 (ONVIF enabled in recent firmware) which can only have a user/pass combo!

Please let me know if I can help you out here. I don't have a public rtsp stream for you but I could schedule one (maybe) if you let me know.

Regards,

Martin

I've just tested rtsp://l125.polwizjer.com:1935/pl/2014tvcanalplussport in vMix 12 and it is working fine.

What I need is an rtsp stream that requires a username and password for testing.

Martin

Hello Martin,

Sorry I just realised I had added rtsp://l125.polwizjer.com:1935/pl/2014tvcanalplussport
as an rtsp over udp rather than rtsp over tcp

I tried to set up my camera to give you remote access however with my current setup I can't port forward.
I might be able to borrow a different modem and see if that will work.

Hi,

I wonder if there is any update regarding this?

I am looking to get a Foscam FI9826W - does anyone have any experience with this?

On a wider note it would be good to have a list of IP cameras which are known to work reliably with Vmix. Something similar to the "Supported Hardware" page.

Regards

Hi Nav,

With regards to Foscam and cameras requiring a login -
I tried the latest version of vMix as of the time of this post 12.0.0.131 and no, it is not resolved.

Thanks Chromazone for the update. Can Martin advise if this is in the pipeline for a fix?

vMix 13.0.0.140 is working with the FOSCAM FI9821W V2

To access use this syntax

rtsp://user:password@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:88/videoMain

Where x is your ip address, user and password as you have set them.

I haven't figured out the correct address to inclue sound so if anyone has any ideas
please post them (/videoMain only gives the video stream I think)

Great work guys!

Dear all, I know, this is a rather old thread ....
Still, I am using the Foscam FI9826W with vMix for video, without issues.

Did anyone figure out a way to get audio from the Foscam into vMix ?

Thanks in advance, kind greetings,
Arie

Dear all,

Like Ario (post above) I still have issues getting a Foscam FI9826P to stream audio. Within VLC player no issues, both video and audio are available.
In VMIX, creating an new RTSP stream to rtsp://user:pass@172.20.x.x:88/videoMain does show video, but no audio.
Is there any solution to this issue?

Thanks in advance,

Lennard

Why not use the NDI VLC plug-in to convert the incoming signal into NDI format and then have vMix 17 (or any other NDI application) receive the signal?

NDI Tools (contains the NDI VLC plug-in): http://pages.newtek.com/...Tools-Pack-Download.html
