I have an HD license of vMix.
My question is if the software will let me use a 4k camera input and allow output of 720p video.
The use case is this... have one 4k camera and several virtual inputs, each cropped differently to 720p (for example a panel discussion with one input per panelist)
So it's unclear to me whether the HD license is not able to accept 4k as input, or if it's just a restriction on rendering 4k video.
I don't have a 4k input stream to test with, so your input is helpful.
Thanks in advance

@ AlanZ
It is my understanding that vMix will not accept any Input sources greater than the version license, regardless of Output resolution used. ie vMix SD will not accept HD or 4K sources and vMix HD will not accept 4K sources or higher.

Actually, to me, it's not quite clear from that grid as to whether the restrictions are on input or on output (or both)... it just says maximum resolution, hence my question.

I can confirm that the SD version will not accept any inputs with a resolution greater than SD. I would assume the HD version works the same way as well. I have since upgraded to HD, but I can't confirm how the HD version works because I don't have any 4K sources.

If you want to use 4K input, you need 4K license. It doesn't matter if you are streaming it SD, HD or 4K.

Thank you, one and all for the clarification.
