I have been using Osprey PCI capture cards for the past 2 years with the SD version of VMix. The camera quality was not all that good but the green screen backgrounds were great. I decided to try some HDMI PCI-E cards. I have tried the Black Magic Decklink Mini recorder and 2 other Black magic PCI-E cards as well as a few generic cards. My problem is that I have a hard time capturing 2 cameras (cards) at a time. I have mixed and matched them and still cannot get them to both work in VMix. I had 2 of them working in the broadcast computer for about 2 weeks and last Thursday when I booted the computer, they were both gone. I finally managed to get one back, but I need 2 cameras for our show. I am running Windows 10. I tried different computers with different motherboards with the same results.
I have 2 questions. 1. If I upgrade to the HD version of VMix and use the osprey cards, will the video get better?
2. How do I get 2 PCI-E capture cards to work at the same time?

1. I suspect NO...
If this is an older Osprey PCI card capturing SD via RCA/BNC, you are not likely to get a "better" image by up-converting using vMix HD (what card is it?). Every link in the chain is important, but you are only as strong as the weakest link. Also, what are the specs of your cameras and your system? If, on the other hand, you are currently downconverting an HD signal to SD, then capturing and processing the HD signal accordingly in HD, will be an improvement.
2. Newer cards and/or a multi-input capture card might be a better solution for you (Decklink Duo or Quad) if you are having issues using two or more cards on your system.

Which mainboard is in the system and which slots are populated? With lots of mainboards there are multiple PCIe slots, but you can't use them all at the same time. Check the mainboard manual for limitations like this.

Here's my configuration:
Asus Z87M-Plus Mainboard
Slot 1 (from top) PCIe x16: Nvidia GTX 750
Slot 2 PCIe x1: DeckLink Mini Recorder
Slot 3 PCIe x1: DeckLink Mini Recorder
Slot 4 PCIe x16

Working fine. Check your mainboard manual for instructions about using and limitations of the PCIe slots.

Thx, but my system is working fine. It was just an example for wkrasley to show that it works in general and what he has to check. We don't know the type of his mainboard so it's a little bit tricky to give exact advice. But your explanation could help him to realize what he should look for.
