A proposed vMix REPLAY Interface using the best methodologies from various manufacturers of professional sports replay systems. It is important that the interface be intuitive, simple and informative. From the novice, hobbyist to the professional, this will always be a compromise of function/features and the cost to develop. Thankfully many of the functions and commands already exist within vMix and its API, and the interface design is based on the Metro design for Windows 8/8.1 and 10.

With a second FHD (1920x1080) monitor, SSD drives, a moderately spec’d i5-i7 motherboard/processor and a nVidia 2GB or better graphics card, you will enjoy many hours of reliable broadcasting. From the early days of the Tektronix Profile to today’s offering of EVS XT3, GVG K2 Dyno, 3Play amongst others, this proposal is based on many years of experience in the field. Apologies in advance for the very long Post.

PROPOSAL: OUTLINE OF FEATURES FOR vMIX REPLAY.

** Mouse Click Behavior: Single-Click selects the highlight. Double-Click loads the selected highlight into the nominated vMix Replay Player (A-B Output). This ‘Double-Click ‘ safe-guards against accidental loading of highlight clips in Player A or B while other operations are being performed.

1: DISPLAYS. Replay ‘A’ & Replay ‘B” displays to the left (LIVE/REPLAY) and the four camera inputs to the right.

2: PIN & COG. The ‘Pin’ is used to undock the the Replay Controller into a separate window. The ‘COG’ opens the Replay Configuration dialog for setting-up the recording folder, recording format, the camera sources (1-4), the audio source and transition types. Further, to configure the event pre/post rolls times, associated music track, event tags or key words and Live Mode type.

3: EVENTS. The Events List consists of four independent lists in which to store the User defined highlights. There are columns for IN POINT, OUT POINT, DURATION, SELECTED EVENT and COMMENTS/TAGS. Each camera (1-4) column contains SELECTED EVENT and COMMENTS/TAGS. All parameters are input by the User, and can be modified as required.

Select the appropriate EVENTS tab (EVENTS 1, EVENTS 2, EVENTS 3, EVENTS 4), and the tab colour of the active EVENT LIST will change to Blue. All MARK IN & MARK OUT events for the LIVE telecast will be stored in the current EVENT LIST. When the current EVENT LIST is ‘On Air - Program’, the EVENTS LIST title bar will change to tally RED.

4: SELECTED EVENTS & FAVOURITES. Any Camera in any Event can be toggled as a SELECTED EVENT or as a FAVOURITE. A SELECTED EVENT can be toggled by placing the mouse of the the CheckBox, and mouse click once. The CheckBox will switch to the colour RED. SELECTED EVENTS will be played in order from first to last when the PLAY SELECTED button is toggled. A FAVOURITE can be toggled by placing the mouse of the the CheckBox, and right clicking on the CheckBox where a context menu will open with the option of FAVOURITE. Select FAVOURITE and the CheckBox will switch to the colour CYAN. The SELECTED EVENT Colour will have priority over the FAVOURITE colour, until the SELECTED EVENT toggle is switched off, and the FAVOURITE colour is restored. The FAVOURITE option assists with allowing the User to store those excellent camera angles or highlights for future reference.

5: IN / OUT POINT. Once a highlight has been created and added into the current EVENT LIST (1-4), the In & Out Points can be modified or shifted either forward or backward from the current position. Placing the mouse over the IN or OUT Point, and holding down the left mouse button and moving the mouse left or right, the User can make course adjustments in either direction. Refinement can be performed by moving the mouse scroll wheel.

Alternatively, using a dedicated control surface (APC40 MkII, Numark Orbit, Behringer), simply select the SHIFT IN or SHIFT OUT Button, vMix Replay will GOTO the start/end of the selected highlight, whereby the User can navigate using the jog/shuttle control to the desired location, and then press the MARK IN or MARK OUT button. The DURATION of the highlight will be automatically updated.

6: QUICK REPLAY. To perform a quick replay, when the good play or highlight has completed, select from one of the four options. -5, -10, -15, -20, automatic MARK OUT the highlight for replay and creates an IN POINT 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15 seconds, or 20 seconds earlier. The highlight will be automatically cued to the IN POINT and PAUSED. Select AUTOMATIC REPLAY button or the PLAY button depending on your requirements. Adjust SLOW-MO speed as required.

7: TAGS (KEY WORDS). The TAGS toolbar consists of two pages of 28 TAGS, 56 in total. To toggle between the two TAGS pages, click on the TAGS button on the left of the toolbar. To create TAGS, double-click the chosen TAG button, and enter the text via the keyboard. When completed, simply press ENTER. The data shall be saved into the vMix Preset file (*.vmix) for the current session.

To assign a TAG, select the Highlight Camera Angle, and click once on the desired TAG. The key word of the TAG is then inputted. Multiple TAGs can be assigned to one highlight in combination. To CLEAR a TAG, select CLEAR from the TAG toolbar (right side), and to edit a TAG select EDIT and enter text from the keyboard.

8: PLAY LIST. The PLAY LIST consists of eight independent lists in which to store the User defined highlights. There are columns for ANGLE, COMMENTS/TAGS, IN POINT, OUT POINT, DURATION, SPEED and MIX effects duration. All parameters are input by the User, and can be modified as required.

To modify the MIX duration, select the desired clip, place the mouse over the MIX parameter, and hold down the left mouse button and moving the mouse left or right, the User can make course adjustments in either direction. Refinement can be performed by moving the mouse scroll wheel.

Select the appropriate PLAYLIST tab (PLAYLIST 1, PLAYLIST 2, PLAYLIST 3, PLAYLIST 4, PLAYLIST 5, PLAYLIST 6, PLAYLIST 7, & PLAYLIST 8), and the tab colour of the active EVENT LIST will change to Orange. All events/clips created in the EVENT LISTs can be ADD’ed to the current PLAY LIST. When the current PLAYLIST is ‘On Air - Program’, the PLAYLIST title bar will change to tally RED.

9: PLAY LIST Tool Bar. To ADD an event/highlight/clip to the PLAYLIST, select the desired clip and camera angle from the current EVENT LIST, and toggle the ADD button on the PLAYLIST toolbar. The newly added clip will be added to the end of the current PLAYLIST.

To INSERT an event/highlight/clip to the PLAYLIST, select the desired clip and camera angle from the current EVENT LIST, then select the desired clip position in the current PLAY LIST, and toggle the INSERT button on the PLAYLIST toolbar. The INSERT’ed clip will be inserted before the the desired clip position in the current PLAY LIST.

To DELETE an event/highlight/clip in the PLAYLIST, select the desired clip and toggle the DELETE button on the PLAYLIST toolbar. The clip is now removed, however the original event/highlight/clip in the EVENT LIST will remain unchanged. This DELETE process is non-destructive.

To LOOP all the contents of the current PLAYLIST, toggle the LOOP button on the PLAYLIST toolbar.

To add MUSIC to the PLAYLIST, set the music file in the vMix Replay Configuration menu, and toggle the MUSIC button on the PLAYLIST toolbar.

To MOVE any event/highlight/clip in the PLAYLIST, select the desired clip and toggle the UP or DOWN buttons on the PLAYLIST MOVE toolbar.

10: IN / OUT POINT. Once an event/highlight/clip has been added into the current PLAYLIST (1-8), the In & Out Points can be modified or shifted either forward or backward from the current position. Placing the mouse over the IN or OUT Point, and holding down the left mouse button and moving the mouse left or right, the User can make course adjustments in either direction. Refinement can be performed by moving the mouse scroll wheel.

Of note is the fact that any changes to the IN / OUT POINTS of event/highlight/clips within the PLAYLIST do not change the IN / OUT POINTS of the original clip/s within the EVENT LIST. This feature provides the opportunity to fine-tune the highlights package to suit the Producer’s requirements.

11: PLAYBACK TOOLBAR. The PLAYBACK toolbar is divided into two layers A/B, REPLAY A and REPLAY B. Both layers provide identical features. REPLAY A (top row) and REPLAY B (bottom row) buttons include: ‘P’, Place REPLAY A/B into the vMix Preview Monitor. ‘1’, set REPLAY A/B output source to Camera 1. ‘2’, set REPLAY A/B output source to Camera 2. ‘3’, set REPLAY A/B output source to Camera 3. ‘4’, set REPLAY A/B output source to Camera 4. ‘PL’, set REPLAY A/B output source to the current PLAYLIST. ‘<- ->’, swap camera sources for REPLAY A/B.

Other button controls included, PLAY/PAUSE, REVERSE Direction, AUTOPLAY last replay EVENT, PLAY SELECTED, GOTO START, GOTO END & EXPORT CLIPS. Playback status including timecode (HH:MM:SS.000) without the date, and the current position (0%-100%) of the SLOWMO control fader.

12: PREVIEW MODE. A more hand’s on approach to performing multiple replays of multiple camera sources using vMix REPLAY. In this mode of operation, REPLAY A becomes the main Programme output and REPLAY B becomes the Preview output of the system. The direction of flow for the REPLAYS is always from REPLAY B (Preview) to REPLAY A (Programme). The effects transition type and duration between REPLAY B and REPLAY A is defined in the vMix Replay Configuration menu ‘Event Transition”. In this mode, a control surface is recommended as both the jog/shuttle knob and the slow-motion speed fader can and will be used separately on either the REPLAY A (Programme) or REPLAY B (Preview) outputs. Possible equipment to perform such operations may be the APC40 MkII, Numark Orbit, Behringer CMD Series, amongst others.

A workflow example:

A goal has successfully been scored. On REPLAY A, select the camera of choice (generally the Wide Shot) and jog back to a suitable position to start the highlight replay. Pause REPLAY A, and MARK In the current replay timecode.

Select PREVIEW MODE. All four of the camera channels will now have the same IN POINT. The Slow-motion control fader will now ONLY control the REPLAY A (Programme) output. You’re now ready for the first replay on the REPLAY A channel.

Select the next (second) suitable camera channel on the REPLAY B (Preview), and fine-tune the position of the second replay using ONLY the JOG control knob. (Generally the Mid Shot)

Preform the replay on the REPLAY A Output using the Slow-motion control fader. When completed, auto-transition (PLAY SELECTED) to the REPLAY B (Preview). Now the second replay is flip-flopped across to the REPLAY A Output. The Slow-motion control fader will still ONLY control the REPLAY A (Programme) output. Adjust slow-mo speed as necessary.

Select the next (third) suitable camera channel on the REPLAY B (Preview), and fine-tune the position of the third replay using ONLY the JOG control knob. (Generally the Close-up Shot)

When completed, auto-transition (PLAY SELECTED) to the REPLAY B (Preview). Now the third replay is flip-flopped across to the REPLAY A Output. The Slow-motion control fader will still ONLY control the REPLAY A (Programme) output. Adjust slow-mo speed as necessary.

Select the next (fourth) suitable camera channel on the REPLAY B (Preview), and fine-tune the position of the fourth replay using ONLY the JOG control knob. (Generally the Reactions of Success)

When completed, auto-transition to the REPLAY B (Preview). Now the fourth replay is flip-flopped across to the REPLAY A Output. The Slow-motion control fader will still ONLY control the REPLAY A (Programme) output. Adjust slow-mo speed as necessary.

13: IMPORTING CLIPS. A facility to import multi-media clips in vMix Replay for inclusion into the highlights packages created using the PLAYLIST Editor. The types of clips may include, but not limited to, Video (segment openers/bumpers/stingers/sponsor’s billboards), Graphics and PowerPoint presentations. These IMPORTED CLIPS would be added to the currently displayed EVENT LIST, and accepted as any other EVENT within the EVENT LIST. Timecode IN POINT would be automatically set to 00:00:00:00, with the OUT POINT and DURATION determined by the length of the imported multimedia.

14: Additional standard features include the vMix Replay Master Record button, Jump to Most Recent Recording Position, the Slow-motion presets and slider control, LIVE Mode and MONITOR displays ON/OFF.

I think this is amazing. We have just ordered a new machine to build around vMix Instant Replay strictly as a Sports Replay system (replacing a NewTek 3Play 425). One of my concerns is the interface looked a little "soft" compared to that of the 3Play (and my replay operator shared my concerns), but we went with vMix Replay anyway. One of our major concerns was the replay operator being able to see all four incoming camera feeds. Not sure of vMix Replay is going to accommodate that. I would be more than happy to beta test for you on this going forward if you like. We do over 100 sporting events a year, so quality replay is important to us. This looks like a real solid step forward.

That is correct ASK, a 'proposal' to Martin & the vMix Team, and as a discussion point bringing together many of the vMix Replay future requests within this forum.

Undoubtedly some great suggestions there, which probably would have been beneficial some 2 years ago when Martin first started the process of developing vMix Replay, never-the-less, there are likely some things that cannot be accommodated for technical reasons and others that may find their way into the interface if the demand for them is there.
If you haven't already, I would suggest reading through some of the old threads to get an idea of what may or may not be currently possible:

There was quite a bit of discussion at the time but the bottom line is, vMixReplay provides an outstanding feature set that is virtually untouchable by anyone at this price point.
I could be wrong, but I think you'll find that vMix is not chasing the high end broadcast market (at least not yet) and it might be a while before a major 'overhaul' is done to vMixReplay.
Just my thoughts.

Thanks IceStream for the feedback. Indeed, “vMix is not chasing the high end broadcast market”. The proposed GUI and feature set in this Post are more to do with workflow, and is aimed at the novice, hobbyist and corporate professional. Most of the functions and commands already exist within vMix and its API, having researched the additional functions/commands from within this Forum. The underlying nature of the vMix mixer and the record/playback functions remains unchanged. It’s more to do with data manipulation (IN/OUT POINTS, DURATION, TAGS) and what to do with that data, where to play the Clips (REPLAY A/B), and when to perform a TRANSITION.

Whether the data resides in an EVENT LIST or PLAYLIST makes no difference to the underlying operation or functioning of the vMix software command and code. By example, PLAY clip from this position (00:01:00.000) for duration (00:00:30.000), at SPEED 75%, then trigger a MIX/FADE to the next source clip. These functions are already available. TAGS are simple text macros, and very basic programming. And the process to change IN/OUT Points of clips is already in place. The key is to bring many of the not-so-obvious functions into the GUI. ‘Point & Click’.

It more about presenting a GUI interface which is intuitive, simple to use, and informative. Reducing the number of mouse-click operations and giving the REPLAY Operator the information and command buttons to perform the tasks. An efficient and flexible workflow is paramount, given the time pressures involved in performing sports replays.

I would be more than happy to provide Martin and his team with documentation, workflows and the software processes required to make vMix Replay the best ‘value for the dollar’ system available. vMix has fulfilled a market niche that no other software developer has even come close, hence the wonderful sense of community in this Forum.

My 2 cents,
We use vMix in Broadcast in several ways and places everyday.

I agree with BeTech, 90% of this is rearranging/reorganizing the replay engine that currently exists. It is so close to being something that experienced operators could get comfortable with.
The only big tweak would be to add a true 2nd channel.

Thanks Steve appreciate the feedback. As it stands, vMix Replay has two channels (A & B), but with one covenant, the same IN Point is used for the replays on each of the selected channels during the SHOW ANGLES mode. The proposed PREVIEW MODE, similar to EVS/GVG and others, is that the Replay Operator/Director has the opportunity to modify and/or fine tune the IN Point for each of the ANGLES that are replayed in slow-motion. Refer to the workflow example in the original post. The Newtek 3Play has however two discreet channels, which is fine, but the Director must perform the transition (mix/fade) between each of the two channels (A & B) under the direction of the Replay Operator. Also in the 3Play, the Replay Operator has no control of the channel currently ON AIR, while he/she is setting up for the next replay channel. It is simply a single control surface, which is either in channel mode A or channel mode B. The proposed PREVIEW MODE, allows the operator to perform slow-motion replay on the ON AIR channel using the ‘T’ Bar control, while at the same time, the replay operator can manipulate the video IN Point on the next channel in PREVIEW using the JOG wheel control. This provides a great deal of choice in terms of what will be replayed.

Current hardware available to perform this split operation includes the AKAI APC40 MKII, where the MASTER Fader controls the replay speed, and the CUE LEVEL controls the JOG function. Alternatively, the Behringer CMD PL-1 and the Numark Orbit could also be used in this situation. The ultimate is to use either a dedicated control surface (expensive) or a touch screen interface or emulator similar to the image below. There are several software applications available for PC, MAC and Android that can accomplish this task. Another use for that old iPad, Android or Windows tablet.

I would love to see this too. I'm a really big fan of the Instant Replay feature in vMix, it's so nice, but the extension proposed would be just brilliant. It is, no doubt, an advanced replay controller, but as mentioned, the core functionality is already in the software, it's all about rearranging the GUI and extending the functionality - "a little bit" :-)

Again I'll make the point that this whole thread is a suggestion to the vMix team. It is not an announcement of what is to come from vMix.

Having said that, Martin does listen to the customer....

I would like to see the Numark Orbit wheel support for frame by frame and speed control. But Martin has advised that this will have to be custom programmed like the Shuttle controller. So fingers are crossed.

Hi,

I appreciate the feedback with regards to improving replay.
I would first like to point out that some of the functionality being discussed is already there.
For example the preview layout is as it currently is in the current vMix Replay, A and B on the left and the four input previews on the right.

What I would also like to propose is some of you discussing a few small updates to replay that can be quickly added to get the ball rolling.

Due to the many feature requests we get on a daily basis, doing a wholesale revamp of vMix Replay all at once is difficult to do, but a few key features
that won't change things up too much could be a good starting point to build on.

I appreciate the feedback with regards to improving replay.
I would first like to point out that some of the functionality being discussed is already there.
For example the preview layout is as it currently is in the current vMix Replay, A and B on the left and the four input previews on the right.

What I would also like to propose is some of you discussing a few small updates to replay that can be quickly added to get the ball rolling.

Due to the many feature requests we get on a daily basis, doing a wholesale revamp of vMix Replay all at once is difficult to do, but a few key features
that won't change things up too much could be a good starting point to build on.

It's not really an interface thing but being able to publish the replay clips to social media would be awesome! This is a game changer feature for me because I do a lot of productions with limited staff so I can't take time to pull up the clips on another computer then post so a simple button that will upload to Twitter and Facebook would be awesome and I know players and fans would love this. I get asked all the time about putting clips up so people can see them while the game is going on. It also gets people's attention to the fact that there is a game going on.

Hi Potimus, I’m not familiar with the process of publishing clips, so bear with me. Using the button/switch “Export Clips”, perhaps the dialog box can offer, “Save to File” and “Publish to Web”. I’m assuming you would enter, or have a Preset web destination in that dialog box for you to publish that clip to your nominated to the website (ie. YouTube ...).

The process could be: 1. Select clip from either the ‘Event List’ or ‘Play List’. 2. Click on ‘Export Clip’. 3. Select destination ‘Save to File’ or ‘Publish to Web’ 4. The dialog box presents either the standard Windows ‘File Save As...” or a textboxes with the web address, account, password ... etc. Would that suffice, and satisfy you request. Just trying to understand how this could be implemented in vMix Replay. Of course Martin and his team would have the final say.

It more about presenting a GUI interface which is intuitive, simple to use, and informative. Reducing the number of mouse-click operations and giving the REPLAY Operator the information and command buttons to perform the tasks. An efficient and flexible workflow is paramount, given the time pressures involved in performing sports replays.

What you have here is a great beginning for something that can be a benchmark for the novice through to the professional. Clearly there are many on this forum who are Users of vMix, and who operate various slow-motion systems for a living, given the style and the language of the feedback. What a great asset to have at your disposal. Fear not the revolution, as we seek a quiet evolution of vMix Replay. Given the feedback and the comments in this thread, I feel that for the most part, many the operators wish to see further development of vMix Replay, at least in the proposed layout I have provided thus far. Or at least this is the impression. So having said that, below is a proposed starting point using all the existing features and core code, but with GUI update to accommadate the future or planned functions over time, using the original screen-shot at the start of this thread as a reference. Be interested to read any/all feedback regarding this.

Perhaps Stage 2 could be modifying the usage of the MARK In, MARK Out, SHIFT In/Goto, SHIFT Out/Goto functionality.

‘MARK in & MARK Out’ would operate as per currently. To create a new Event, Live or in Delayed Playback, simply Mark In. To complete the Event, then Mark Out, and the duration is automatically calculated.

‘MARK Out’ can be used to create a pending event, awaiting a MARK In action from the operator. This is useful in some situations where the start of the action is not easily determined. The operator can perform the replay manually by jogging back to the desired location for replay, and later MARK In the start of the event to complete the operation. If the MARK In point is after or later than the MARK Out point, the existing MARK Out is cleared. This may be desirable in some situations.

To shift or change an existing ‘MARK In’, the operator would select the ‘IN – SHIFT/Goto’ button. The button will illuminate green, in acknowledgement that the operator wishes to change the current In Point. vMix Replay would immediately ‘Goto’ the current In Point for the selected event. The operator jogs/shuttles in reverse or forward to locate the new In Point. Once in position, the operator would ‘MARK In’ the new In Point for that event, and the ‘SHIFT/Goto’ button would switch off, completing the operation.

To shift or change an existing ‘MARK Out’, the operator would select the ‘OUT – SHIFT/Goto’ button. The button will illuminate green, in acknowledgement that the operator wishes to change the current Out Point. vMix Replay would immediately ‘Goto’ the current Out Point for the selected event. The operator jogs/shuttles in reverse or forward to locate the new Out Point. Once in position, the operator would ‘MARK Out’ the new Out Point for that event, and the ‘SHIFT/Goto’ button would switch off, completing the operation.

If the operator performs an illogical ‘Mark In’ or ‘Mark Out’ operation in the SHIFT Mode, the following would occur:

In the case of modifying the Mark Out point earlier in timecode than the currently displayed Mark In point for the selected event, the Mark In point would be cleared. This may be desirable in some situations.

In the case of modifying the Mark In point later in timecode than the currently displayed Mark Out point for the selected event, the Mark Out point would be cleared. This may be desirable in some situations.

To MOVE, COPY or DELETE an Event, right click over the desired event and use the context menu, and select the appropriate function you wish to perform. Alternatively, these may be accessed through the vMix Shortcuts Menu for dedicated or virtual control surfaces.

To create an instant replay event select either the -5, -10, -15, -20 buttons at the Out Point of your choosing, and the In Point will be automatically generated. Event increments of 5 secs, 10 secs, 15 secs and 20 secs are available.

This is a proposal for the functionality of Marking IN and OUT Points within vMix Replay.

The next stage could be the inclusion of the Event Tags or Keywords menu bar. To add Event Tags to a selected Event and Angle, simply click once on the preferred TAG, and the contents of the TAG are added. Multiple TAGs can be added to any Event and Angle, with a SPACE automatically inserted between each TAG. For example, first TAG = “Manchester United”, second TAG = “10”, third TAG = “Rooney” and fourth TAG = “Goal”.

In this proposal there are two pages of TAGS, each with two rows of fourteen TAGS, 56 in total. The data associated with the TAGS could be saved with the vMix Pre-set file for later recall.

To add new information to a TAG, select CLEAR if the TAG is already occupied with text, and click on the desired TAG. You are automatically in the EDIT mode. Or select EDIT to add new information into an empty TAG location. Alternatively, just double-click to enter the TAG EDIT mode, and use backspace to CLEAR, and add the appropriate text. To save and exit, press enter. To cancel, press ESC (Escape) and the original contents of the TAG will remain unchanged.

To navigate between each of the two pages of TAGS, just click on the TAG button on the left of TAG’s menu bar.

A selection menu could be available in the vMix Replay settings dialog which switches the mode of operation for TAGs to either “TAG All Angles” or “TAG Single Angle”. In some circumstances it may only be required to use a single series of TAGs to be selected for all the Angles of a selected Event, thereby simplifying the tagging process. For example, when the Operator knows the predefined shots for a sports event and the camera angles, i.e. Camera 1 = Wide; Camera 2 = Head to Toe; Camera 3, Close-ups; Camera 4, Back-board left; Camera 5, Back-board right.

Tagging gives the operator a consistent and easy way to add text or comments to any Event and/or Angle within vMix Replay. This is a proposal for the functionality of Tagging (Key Words) within vMix Replay.

As per the Post at the start of this thread, each enhancement can be planned and rolled out over a period of time. Other add-on’s may include, but are not limited to the following:

Toggling an Event/Angle as a ‘Favourite’ in the Event List. A handy reminder of those Events/Angles of an important nature. i.e. Sporting Highlights.

Export Clips to File (already exists) and also the Web (publishing) via the dual function ‘Export Clips’ interface button.

Another feature that has been requested, but is not included in this proposal, is GOTO TIMECODE. The ability to Goto a requested timecode within the vMix Replay recording as required.

Playlist Editor. Consisting of eight independent lists in which to store the User defined highlights. There are columns for ANGLE, COMMENTS/TAGS, IN POINT, OUT POINT, DURATION and MIX effects duration. All parameters are input by the User, and can be modified as required.

Import Clips. A facility to import multi-media clips in vMix Replay for inclusion into the highlights packages created using the PLAYLIST Editor. The types of clips may include, but not limited to, Video (segment openers / bumpers / stingers / sponsor’s billboards), Graphics and PowerPoint presentations. These IMPORTED CLIPS would be added to the currently displayed EVENT LIST, and accepted as any other EVENT within the EVENT LIST.

Preview Mode. A more hand’s on approach to performing multiple replays of multiple camera sources using vMix REPLAY. In this mode of operation, REPLAY A becomes the main Programme output and REPLAY B becomes the Preview output of the vMix Replay system. The direction of flow for the REPLAYS is always from REPLAY B (Preview) to REPLAY A (Programme). The effects transition type and duration between REPLAY B and REPLAY A is defined in the vMix Replay Configuration menu ‘Event Transition”. In this mode, a control surface is recommended, as both the slow-motion speed fader on the REPLAY A (Programme) Out and the jog/shuttle knob on the REPLAY B (Preview) output can and will be used separately.

If there is anything in this proposal that I may have missed, please feel free to Post in this thread. Keeping in mind, we do not wish to overwhelm Martin and his team. Though I think I may have already achieved that. If this all comes to fruition, it will certainly give other video software manufacturers ‘a moment for pause’. Thank-you.
