I currently have a 500GB SSD for my operating system and vMix, I need more space to record ISO.
Can I add another SSD and make that the one that the recordings go to?
If I do it that way, so I lose any speed?
Any downside to doing it that way?
Or should I just start from scratch and get a 1TB SSD?

Thank you for any help.

Other than the cost of buying it, I can't think of a downside to adding another SSD to your system. Unless your system has an under-powered power supply, there shouldn't be any negative issues. If you have vMix Pro or 4X and are going to use Instant Replay you should have another drive. I have one desktop system (vMix & Wirecast) running 3 drives, a RAID SSD pair for the OS and a hard drive dedicated to storage.

@ KCPro

I agree with SportsNetUSA.net. There should be no issue with running multiple drives on a desktop computer provided it has the capacity, in fact, I would highly recommend it. Even an appropriately connected external drive on a laptop can be beneficial.

The recommendations you will find on this forum is to run seperate SSD's per ISO. It is possible to record them with less however. The vMix Go is spec'd with 4 hotswap SSD bays, and Martin has suggested that he recommends Crucial Drives. I have been using multiple SSD's (Sandisk and Samsung) without issue for the last three years.

SSDs use so little power that the power supply should never be a factor. If adding an SSD pushes it over the edge then your system would likely have been unstable already.
