Thanks: 5 times
Hi there,

When I open my HDV camera in Vmix (the camera is connected to a pc through firewire), the video stutters (the video does not play smoothly). This behaviour makes Vmix unusable for me, because the stuttering gets outputted as well.

The pc's hardware is easily capable of such a task, and when I open the camera in VLC Mediaplayer (Videolan)the stream does play smoothly. In Media Express (Blackmagic Design software) everything plays fine as well.

Does anyone recognize the 'non-smooth'-playing in Vmix and is there an explanation/solution for it?

Thanks!
Albrecht

[EDIT]
It looks like it has something to do with enabling the deinterlace-option.

Are you running XP or Windows 7?

Windows 7 includes a decoder that works well with HDV, but if you are using XP then vMix has to try and find a decoder that you have installed from some other source.

You can confirm this by adding the camera into vMix, click the "i" underneath the input, and making note of what is in the "Filters" dropdown list.
There should be something along the lines of Manufacturer MPEG-2 Decoder.
