Thanks Brian, that genuinely helps. A clean wired setup on fibre, going direct, is exactly the baseline I wanted to hear about.

One follow-up if you don't mind: when you were hitting the issue back in this thread, what did it look like on a Sunday? Did the stream end on YouTube and come back as a new broadcast, or just stall? And did anyone at church notice before you did? I'm trying to understand how often it bites and what it costs, even for well-run setups like yours.

I'm also using AV1 so it's the highest quality compression encoder. There's another setting I've tweaked as I recall. I'm using the P5 or P6 quality setting. I'm sending the very best quality out that I can. I did try the maximum or P6 or whatever and found it added some overhead for very little benefit. You should tinker with that some. I also send out the highest audio bitrate vs the standard 128 kbps.

It's been a long time, but I think it will just drop after the stream and the lights would go to amber. It acted like networking issues but I never found anything. We just restarted the stream. This, in fact, happened recently. But, we just restarted the stream. There's probably less than 50 live viewers at any one time so it's not like we have 1000s of viewers. I tried numerous things and never did find the smoking gun, so to speak. It seemed to just clear up over time. I think during this time we were running into performance issues on our previous Dell Alienware laptop so we switched to another one and that seemed to help a lot. This newer Lenovo is very beefy and just never seems to stumble at all.

Not sure if that helps.
Brian
