Hi everyone,
I’m considering this laptop for a vMix setup (2–4 cameras, possibly DeckLink via Thunderbolt) and would love your input on whether it’s a good fit.
Specs:
Intel Core i7-14650HX (16 cores, up to 5.2 GHz)
64 GB DDR5 RAM (5600 MHz)
NVIDIA RTX 4070 (140W, 8GB VRAM)
2 TB NVMe SSD (Gen4)
16” display (2560x1600, 165 Hz)
Thunderbolt 4 (1 port), HDMI 2.1
Wi-Fi 7, 1 Gbit LAN
Planned use:
vMix with 2–4 cameras (possibly expanding later)
Streaming + recording simultaneously
Considering using a DeckLink card via Thunderbolt enclosure
Questions:
Is this a solid choice for stable vMix performance?
Any concerns with thermals/throttling in longer productions?
Would the single Thunderbolt port be limiting in a real setup?
Appreciate any feedback or real-world experience 🙌

Choose a PC with an Intel BGA 2114 socket, as Thunderbolt 4 is natively supported by the CPU.
or Ryzen cpu + usb 40 gbps port
Add a second M.2 NVMe SSD for recording.
32 GB DDR5 is ok
only pcie x4 capture cards + resolution of 1080p60 for your projects.
1 x HDMI port + 1 x USB-C port (compatible with DisplayPort + G-Sync) for extended Windows displays + Vmix fullscreen
via a USB-C to 2 x HDMI (or 2 x DP) adapter
Note: Maximum 4 displays (screen laptop + 3 external screens)
i've tested 8in 1080p60 on laptop ryzen 7 8745hs + rtx 4070 and laptop ultra 9 285hx + rtx 5070 ti by tb4 pcie enclosure + 2 x pcie capture cards x4
no problem
raise the PC for ventilation
