Subject: [SHOWCASE] Meet AK GO – The Advanced Software Controller that turns vMix into a High-End Vision Mixer Hi everyone, I’d like to introduce you to AK GO, a specialized software controller I’ve been developing to bridge the gap between vMix and high-end broadcast hardware. Whether you are running a TV station, a professional podcast, or a high-production YouTube channel, AK GO is designed to handle the "heavy lifting" so you can focus on the creative side of live production. What is AK GO?It is more than just a remote; it’s a comprehensive automation and management layer for vMix. It’s designed to simplify complex tasks—like SuperSource transitions, virtual camera movements, and multi-channel playout—into single-click actions. Key Features at a Glance: []Intuitive Template & Preset System: Ships with a customizable template. Swap sources or images via a right-click menu and save your entire configuration as a preset instantly. []Dynamic Virtual Camera Control: Features a precision timer slider to control the duration of virtual camera moves. Perfect for "push-ins" on anchors while simultaneously managing side-graphic overlays. []Integrated Playout Management: Direct control over local and external vMix playout systems. You no longer need a dedicated playout operator; the interface brings everything under one roof. []One-Click Automation: Execute complex sequences (e.g., Intro Graphic -> Moving Wide Shot -> Transition to Anchor) with a single button press. []Advanced SuperSource Layers: Includes 32 templates (expanding to 64 soon). Features dynamic resizing, repositioning for tickers, and three transition styles: Cut, Cube, and Slide. []Automated SuperSource CG: A dedicated Character Generator automatically triggers when templates change, with a separate interface for independent text control. []Bi-Directional vMix Sync: Real-time feedback on overlays and recording status directly on the AK GO interface. []6-Channel NDI Aux Outputs: Switch up to six NDI inputs (selectable three at a time) directly from the controller.
- Full Audio Integration: A dedicated audio panel synced with vMix, with simplified controls for "one-man-band" operations.
See it in Action:I have prepared a demo video showing the workflow and the speed of the interface here: https://alikassem.net/akgo/I want your feedback! This project has been a labor of love to make live production more accessible and professional. I am currently at a crossroads and would love to hear from the vMix community. Would a tool like AK GO be a valuable addition to your workflow? I am considering two paths forward: either releasing this as a professional paid software or launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund continuous additions, more SuperSource templates, and deeper tool expansions. Please let me know your thoughts, feature requests, or if you’d be interested in supporting a Kickstarter to help bring this to the next level. Your feedback will literally shape the future of this project! Looking forward to hearing what you think. Best regards, ALI KASSEM AKGO UI 3.jpg (437kb) downloaded 76 time(s). Thank you for sharing the information. At first glance it looks cool but also I think I could do everything with a streamdeck or other controller. Maybe I have missed the USP.

Hi Mavik, Thank you very much for the feedback! That is a very fair question, and it's actually the most common one I get. vMix shortcuts and Stream Decks are powerful tools, and you are right—you can map any function to them. However, the core concept of AK GO isn’t just to provide a hardware replacement; it is designed to be an intelligent middle layer that handles the heavy lifting of state management and complex workflow orchestration, allowing a "one-man-band" operation to run like a full control room. If I had to narrow down the actual USP that a Stream Deck cannot easily replicate, it would be this: Stream Deck triggers. AK GO orchestrates. Here are a few concrete examples of what I mean by that: []Intelligent State Management (Automation): A standard Stream Deck setup requires you to press multiple buttons to achieve a complex move (e.g., 1: Go to Wide Shot, 2: Start Wide Shot Zoom, 3: Trigger Ticker, 4: Transition to Anchor). AK GO bundles these into a single conditional action.** It doesn't just send commands; it logic-checks what vMix is doing and executes a sequential chain perfectly, minimizing the risk of operator error during high-pressure live production. []Advanced Variable Fader Logic (USP 2): The primary fader in AK GO isn’t just for volume; it’s a Dynamic Virtual Camera Movement Timer. Stream Deck does not have a native way to easily use a physical fader to control the specific duration of variable camera pushes and side graphic overlays simultaneously. This allows operators to change the pacing of a camera move on the fly, which is very high-end broadcast logic. [][b]Bi-Directional vMix Sync & Dynamic UI (USP 9):** AK GO establishes direct, bi-directional sync with vMix. It provides instant, native visual feedback on the interface regarding input sources, active overlays, and recording status. While activators exist, AK GO simplifies this by providing a unified, coherent dashboard that looks and behaves like hardware, eliminating the need to look at the main vMix window to verify states. [][b]SuperSource & CG Orchestration (USP 5 & 7): To create a multi-box look in vMix using a Stream Deck requires significant backend setup (setting up layers, inputs, cropping). AK GO provides a template system that works with a single click. Crucially, when you change a SuperSource template in AK GO, it automatically triggers and updates the specific corresponding Character Generator (CG) text (which is managed independently of the main CG), without any additional operator input. That is the kind of workflow simplification I’m aiming for.
Essentially, if you are happy spending time mapping hundreds of shortcuts and keeping track of complex states in your head, a Stream Deck is fine. But if you want to be able to sit down at a professional console that already speaks "broadcast logic" and executes three operations with one click, then AK GO is designed for you. I hope that clarifies where I see the true USP. I encourage you to try the trial version when it is ready, as the workflow feeling is much better experienced than described. Looking forward to hearing what you think after this breakdown! Best regards, Ali Kassem
