Hello everyone, I have the following problem: I have a vMix show that decodes several SRT streams. Most of the time we have no problems, but occasionally it happens that individual SRT streams only work via the VLC plugin in vmix and not via the normal SRT caller feature. The problem with this is that the vlc plugin does not allow you to select the individual audio tracks.
Does anyone know a possible reason why some SRT streams cannot be decoded “normally” in vmix?
Best regards from Düsseldorf
Janek

Hi. All the srt streams are produced by same machine/way? If not,ask the person how produces it and check if something can be changed in order to match your needs Either than this,if you didnt try it,try to decode via sw or hw option in Vmix when add the srt input.

there is a new SRT-Decoder Software from Haivision available. (WIndows/Mac/Linus) Haivision Play ISR The software is free and can display a lot of stream data, including metadata if available. It can also handle different audio tracks. Several instances can be started. This should also display the differences between the various SRT streams from JanekW31.

Also beware of the dreaded HEVC issue: If in your SRT stream the video is in HEVC, the Windows installation needs to have the HEVC extension installed. Otherwise you have no video, only audio and no error message in vMix. You need to buy the extension in the MS-Store for 0,99 € (https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9nmzlz57r3t7?hl=de-DE&gl=DE). vMix uses this for decoding. VLC however, has its own internal HEVC decoder. vMix outgoing streams however seem to use the FFMPEG H.265 encoder and do not the the extension to be installed. Maybe this is the issue. VLC will also show you the video codecs used in the stream in the information window. Good luck!
