In this post, I'm sharing a piece of code that allows you to track the file being played and how much time is left. This information can be added to a title and displayed on a set for the presenter or other viewers. I believe that this code will be very useful for anyone working with audiovisual projects, especially those involving live broadcasts or presentations.

I encourage you to give it a try and see how it works for your specific needs. And of course, a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the development of this code - your efforts are truly appreciated and make a difference in the audiovisual community.

I'm not sure what the above post is all about, but it has nothing to do with my Timecode Reader app ???

This same post also appears in https://forums.vmix.com/...-change-clock-for-events

It looks like a ChatGPT or something of the sort..

Just found your timecode reader, nice app! Unfortenately it does not work on our machine. vMix 27 (maybe too young version?)

I extracted the whole folder to my desktop an am running the 32bit version. I can't get the timecode from my vmix input read out. The API works though, but shows a 00:00:00 timceode the whole time. The app itself as well.

Does anyone have an idea? :)
Thanks in advance!

I just tested the 32 bit version on vMix27 and it works OK. Is the 'connected' indicator beside the IP window turned "green" ? If not you might have the wrong IP. If you are running the app on the same computer as vMix, try setting the IP to 127.0.0.1

If you need additional help, feel free to contact me at info@studio793.ca

Thanks for the quick response! Yes, the indicator light is green. I can also see all the inputs So it def connects to the right machine/vmix. I will try that other IP solution later. Thanks again!

If you are getting a green connected indicator then you are communicating OK to vMix >>

Did you add the "Timecode.gtzip" title file to your vMix preset ? This is important, as this is what is used to calculate the timecode on the app. The file is included in the download folder. You must also enter the file name in the in the "File name of XAML file" field (as shown below)

Screenshot vMix Timecode Reader.png (221kb) downloaded 38 time(s).

Hi Richard,

I've been using this tool for years and it's been an absolute life saver. So firstly a massive thank you!
With the latest version of vMix having the ability to provide total time remaining for lists, I was curious if you were planning on updating the tool to be able to read this information?

Best,

TT

Hi. The total remaining time list is present in Product Clocks but not in Vmix API. So un-fortunatelly is still not possible for a 3rd party tool to show directly this info for List inputs.
We hope that (because it has been asked many times in the features request forum section) Vmix 29 will give us this ability

Hi, we are trying to include the vmix timecode in our Event but somehow we do not receive the timings (remaining etc.) in the vmix - it just shows the words Remaining: Remaining

I hope this is understandable :) looking forward to your response!

Make sure you're on the same network as vMix. Also check the "Web Controller" settings in vMix and uncheck the "Enable enhanced security on Web and TCP API" box to allow polling. If that doesn't do it, send me a screenshot of the "Timecode Reader app"

Hmmm it should work... seeing as the app is reading the Timecode correctly..

Did you modified the original "Timecode.gtzip" file ? (which is OK). Try using the original downloaded file to see if it works..

Also, Is it possible that you have a space in the Timecode .gtzip file name ? That would do it. Hard to tell from the screenshot..

Hi All ... If you are using Panel Builder, you will also see, when you add a player source to the panel, that it does give a time code reader output as well.... I use Panel Builder a lot actually every time I use vMix, and I see a time code display ..
