Everything was working fine until I updated my Focusrite software today, so surely it has something to do with it.

All programs, including vMix, are picking up my mic. The only problem is that vMix won't output it. I saw a previous post about it, but couldn't understand the solution. vMix shows no sign at all of audio output. Therefore, my NDI output is silent too. I can monitor the audio through my speakers, so all components of the system are working, but something is preventing the audio that goes into vMix from coming out.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi. In present days 2025,sound problems appeared in Windows 11 latest version and vmix older than 27 version. If this is not your case, give more details for your setup or contact vmix support

Everything was working this morning before updating the Focusrite driver. I haven't updated any other software today.

My first thought would be that Focusrite is the direct culprit, but because vMix recognizes and tracks the mic input, I know that Focusrite itself can't be the issue. I think it's rather a vMix audio output setting that somehow changed when the Focusrite upgrade was made, but I don't know why, or, more importantly, how to change whatever setting it is back to what it used to be.

For context, I'm on Windows 11 26100.3476 and vMix 27.0.0.85

Have you seen in Vmix-->settings--->Audio outputs, what is there? Is same like before? If you play any video or audio input, there is no vmix audio output? Vmix audio mixer, when you play anything that has sound shows the audio bars from the running input?
The audio bars in the main vmix gui are visible?

Sometimes it helps to select a different output device (vmix restarts) and after that change back to what it was. have you tried that.

The master output is "Default Windows Playback Device."

I changed it to something else, let vMix restart, changed it back again to "Default Windows Playback Device," let it restart again, and tested it. It still isn't outputting my mic signal.

When I add an audio file and do a quick play of it, I DO SEE the audio bars on both the input and the master audio output, and I hear it in the speakers as expected. This is not the case for my mic where I only see the lines on the input and nothing on output.

Even though vMix is showing the audio bars for my mic input, even though my mic comes in fine in other programs, and even though it plays an audio file perfectly, I don't see or hear any sign of an output from vMix for my mic.

Solved!! I played around with a ton of settings. After messing with it a bunch, I finally solved it. Notably, I had to deselect the headphones here. Screenshot 2025-04-07 141223.png (37kb) downloaded 0 time(s).
