Hi friends!

I have a question that I am having trouble finding the answer to. We have started to include ASL interpreters into our fully switched productions. We brought in a little overlay box in the lower right hand frame and assigned the interpreter's input to it which looks great, however when we show slides or ppt full screen, the ASL overlay box blocks the lower portion of the slides because it is literally laying over them. This is bad for us because we show a lot of content on our slides. I am trying to design a frame in vMix where we have the fully switched production to the left, and a smaller ASL box in the lower right corner (completely outside of the main production frame).

I've tried to use layers where I can manipulate the size of each box (for instance the second option with the two split boxes), but my question is, how do I punch up and send my fully switched production to the bigger box (#1) and keep the smaller box to the right (#2) with just my ASL interpreter. We use a stream deck, so it would be great if we could continue punching up our various cameras/inputs through the stream deck like normal without having to use a mouse. I'm not sure if layers are not the right answer or it's some sort of multiview or a mix input. I've watched a lot of tutorial videos online but can't seem to find this specific use case.

Thanks very much in advance for any help or ideas you might have. I hope my question made sense. Thank you for reading!

not sure, but maybe this will give you some ideas https://forums.vmix.com/...--as-a-source-for-Inputs

note, Output is nowadays able to be used in an Input.

I've seen before where someone set their outputs 1-4 to inputs, then used the Output input to layer things on top of for those outputs, specifically for this purpose.

You can also use Mix inputs to the same effect if you're controlling from a Stream Deck.

The way I would do this is:

- Keep everything on Output as usual - this then maintains all triggers, audio switching, etc
- Add an "Output" input (from the Add Input menu)
- Add a blank input (let's say this is Input 20)
- Layer up your "Output" input with your interpreter, and add any prettiness you want to it
- Set Output 2 to be Input 20, and send this to your stream/record/wherever you need it
