Help with YT livestream please!
Regarding the Live Stream Title, I've been typing in a new Title and uploading a new JPEG Cover for each church Sunday service BEFORE the livestream starts (in the YT 'Go Live' page). This week, I forgot to do that, so last week's title and pic were still in the settings. Even though the 'stream button' was on in VMix, there was no livesteam.
So my question/s - If the SAME title is left in YT LiveStream page what (should) happen/s?

1. It doesn't livestream as to do so would overwrite the previous stream
2. It overwrites the previous livestream
3. It adds to the title (e.g. '01') so that it doesn't overwrite previous stream and still streams live.

If no1 is correct - it won't stream. Is there a way to leave a Title like 'Sunday Service' with a date that will AUTOMATICALLY update each week so that we won't be reliant on someone changing the Title each week. Thus we'd have a 'guaranteed' stream and could update the title afterwards.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer regarding this. I've done extensive G**gle seached and can find zero info about this.

I stream to Youtube each week with VMix (using the VMix Stream Now function, so entering the stream title into the VMix dialog box rather than on the Youtube website).

I have on occasion forgotten to change the title from the week before so we have had 2 streams with the same title, none of your 1-3 options happened. It just created a new event on Youtube with the same title as one of the others. I went back later and edited the event on Youtube studio to fix the incorrect title.

I have also streamed with OBS, using the same Youtube event / key to stream each week, again if you forget to change the title you still get the livestream and it appears as an event on Youtube with a duplicate title.

So I would say that your problem is not this, but something else. Did you maybe forget to click "Go live" on the Youtube page, if you do this then VMix shows that it's streaming but the stream never starts.

(It would be nice if VMix could automatically update the stream title with the date, like it does for the recording files, but there is no way to do this currently - I have put a suggestion on the software suggestions page, go like it if you want to make it more likely to happen)

There seems to be a difference in YouTube between:

1. Live Streaming
and
2. Live Now

This is why there is a problem.

If I click 'streaming' in Vmix it AUTOMATICALLY streams live to youtube. I do not need to open an internet browser, I do not need to login into youtube. It's all done. The downside of this, is that, if I have a problem with the stream (eg. no sound due to audio interface drivers) and need to reboot the PC - once it's rebooted, if I just push 'stream' in Vmix again it will NOT STREAM (even though in Vmix it's activated, there will be NO STREAM on the INTERNET VIA YOUTUBE. Nothing!!). This is because the EXACT SAME TITLE is in the youtube settings. The only way to resolve this, would be to login to youtube and quickly change the title so that the stream will acually be 'streaming'.

There seems to a second option and rather than 'streaming' you instead do a 'live now'. As far as I know these are 2 completely different things. With a 'Live Now' it's not sufficent to simply click 'streaming' in Vmix - you then have to do a second step - open a web browser, login to youtube, and click 'Live now'. As far as I can tell, this would mean that you don't have to edit the title every time, and you tube will indeed stream - although I'm not sure if it overwrites or has another version.

In my opinion both of these options are rubbish. I need a simple system of clicking a button, for users who know little about streaming a church service, are not experts, but a willing to click a mouse here and there.

Are you sure about this, I think you've got it backwards.

The "YouTube Live Stream Now" setting, VMix requests your youtube login credentials, then when you click Stream, VMix logs into youtube and creates the live event for you, then starts the stream - this is your "Simple clicking a button" option. If you reboot the PC or otherwise interrupt the stream, VMix will create a new live event on Youtube with the same title as the previous one, but it's a separate event and any watchers will need to go find it. The only problem with this is there's no way to automatically set a title for the stream (e.g. the date), so you still have to go into the stream options on VMix and change the title each time.

"YouTube Live Stream" requires you to log into youtube on a browser yourself and configure the stream, before you start streaming. If you interrupt the stream you have about 60 seconds to get it going again, otherwise Youtube will end the live event and you'll need to go back to the browser and start a new one. If you can restart within 60 seconds then the previous live event will continue.

Not for me. Not ever. Same title means only one stream. Not a duplicate, not an overwrite, not a 'new' stream in a different location. It means NO stream - not in any circumstances. (but because we record to HD it means we'll upload the '2nd stream' later and it will go into 'Videos' in youtube.

If I stream to YT with a 'one click' in Vmix with a title in YT 'My Video' for 30 seconds and then stop the stream. If I then click 'stream' again in Vmix - whilst the button in Vmix will turn red to show it's 'active' there will not be a stream in youtube. All that will exist is the 1st stream called 'My Video'. If I now want to do a 2nd stream I will have to open an internet browser, log in to youtube and change the title. As long as this same title is there nothing else will stream. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.

I'm looking for a better solution as I have people who are barely computer literate running our livestream, but I can't find the help I need!

That's strange... So just to be clear, what settings are you using on VMix as there isn't an option called "one click" - is it "YouTube Live Stream Now"? (which requires you to enter the video title in the VMix dialog, not on Youtube). The last time I tried this, I had an internet dropout while streaming and VMix created a new event on youtube with the same name.

The red indication on VMix just means that VMix is successfully sending the video data to Youtube. It doesn't give any indication what youtube is doing with the video data.

I have had the situation you describe, using the normal "Youtube Live Stream" where you have to go and set the stream title using a browser on the youtube website. If the stream stops and it takes more than 60 seconds (roughly) before you start again, then youtube will end the event and you cannot restart it by sending more data (though VMix will still show red, as youtube is receiving the data you're sending but doing nothing with it).

At this point you need to "Go live" again on Youtube. The stream title is not relevant for me though, it can be the same as the previous stream.
