I would like to know thoughts on whether we need to upgrade our vMix computer, or maybe one or more of the components like the GPU. The specs are shown below. In vMix, while live streaming, we have been seeing our GPU go as high as 90%, our CPU up to 50%, and total stays around 70-95%.

Our vMix PC specs:
CPU: i7 9700K 8 core
Ram: 32 GB DDR4 2666 MHz
GPU:GTX 1060 w/6GB of DDR5, 1280 cuda cores
HDMI PCI Capture Card, Magewell 4 ports
HDMI PCI Capture Card, Avermedia 1 port
PS: Seasonic 850 W
SSD: 500GB M.2
HD: WD Black 2TB
CPU Cooling: Water Cooler
OS: Win 10 Pro 64bit

vMix output:
Display port via GPU to 34" monitor for vMix
VGA via motherboard to powered 1x2 VGA splitter, to 2 each 55" monitors
BMD Decklink PCI Mini Monitor SDI to BMD Mini Converter (SDI in to HDMI out and SDI out)
SDI out to 65" monitor in another building. HDMI out to splitter, then to two 50" monitors.
Misc USB output: One to Yamaha TF1 sound board (via Focusrite), other misc to mouse, keyboard, Streamdeck, etc
Livestream from vMix to 2 platforms (Rumble and Restream. Restream goes to Facebook and YouTube)


vMix Input:
3 each PTZ cameras, HDMI into Magewell Port #1, 2, 3
1 each Laptop HDMI from stage to Magewell Port #4
1 each MacMini HDMI to Avermedia Port #1
1 each PTZ camera, POE into network via vMix NDI
Note: all 4 PTZ cameras have ethernet cables to powered network switch for joystick control

Hello. Except the 2 streams do you also record and in what format? What render times you have? I also use gtx 1060 and 1070ti gpu`s and i see that this card limit "realworld" 1080 encoder (even with the new 8 encodes nvdia driver) is 3 and then starts to use CPU. For the 90% GPU see this https://www.vmix.com/kno...2/optimising-performance maybe you need (if not allready do this) to enable the high input perfomance mode. This may improve some things but not really much on the encoder things,so if you also stream and record and reach 3 or more encoder things,your cpu will go up until boooom...
What to change? Personally speaking (i7 10700k with 1070ti) if i had the budget i would go for a quadro card to raise up my encoders because this is the limit in my personal workflow

According to vMix:

Quote:
Make sure all displays are connected directly to the graphics card on the computer and not the motherboard.
Using both motherboard and graphics card ports will severely impact performance and is not supported by vMix.
Displays should all have the same refresh rate where possible, either 59 or 60hz is recommended and can be configured in the NVIDIA control panel.



So move that VGA connection from the motherboard to your video card even if you have to use a HDMI or DisplayPort to VGA converter. That alone may solve the problem.

My experience on my personal workflow is that everything is depended on what we need to do. As general rule i see that more vram we can buy and have in our GPU will help a lot in many cases. For example if we do virtual production and need to have heavy virtualsets more than one and angles,the GPU memory is really helpfull as every virtualset input we add in vmix can eat at least 500-700mb from our GPU memory when the gpu and m/b doesnt support resizeable bar and use the high input gpu system/ I dont have a gpu resizeable bar compatible,so i dont know how this is be used in real world scenarios but seems that is very usefull to exist. Also better GPU is great to have if we need to do 2-3 streams and multicorder hw enabled like mp4.
If we need to play many videos same time based on the way,vmix is now technically builded (out of the box without "patents") we need a really fast and big cpu "monster". So if you need to play same time for example for any purpose (like send videowall via external out, videos in the virtual screens) and you need these videos be 3-4 videos 4k then the middle consumer cpu will go crazy..

Are you running into any actual issues?

The CPU and GPU exist to be used.

Unless you're maxing them out, and encountering issues from doing so, I don't see a problem.

As long as the CPU and GPU numbers remain under 100% and/or you don't encounter any performance issues, I'm not sure what benefit you'd derive from an upgrade of either.
