Is it possible to decide the duration of the recording? I would like the files to all be exactly 15 minutes long

Then you will need to write a script checking the current recording duration time from the vMix API XML and let it stop the recording after 840 seconds of recording time but tthat wont be you wanting of the exact 15 minutes ;-) Check the "scripting for dummies" post on how to retrieve info from the API XML and activae functions etc
