Hi Guys,

Was wondering what creative solutions you guys had for triggering powerpoint over the internet. Currently using vMix to bring in remote callers which works perfectly, but would like the remote callers to be able to click forwards and backwards through slides with relatively low latency.

Laptop running PPT is in the studio connected to vMix over NDI if that makes any difference ?

Any ideas ?

I see this is your 1st post on the forum so welcome but a good practise is to search at least a little before posting ! This has been discussed so many times lately !!! And it's been answered so many times already with so many options ! There are also so many tutorials on YouTube on how to use Powerpoint remotely with vMix !

So again welcome and keep in mind to use this forum for what it is : a giant and freely searchable Knowledge Base for all things vMix! And remember you are very unlikely to be the first one asking such a basic question unless you have a very specific use case.

I did search a before hand and couldn't see that the solution that I'm asking for was being discussed.....

If you'd be so kind as to point me to a topic where it has been discussed and a solution provided then that would be great.

I do not want to trigger an imported PPT within vMix, which does seem to have been discussed before, but instead want someone remotely to be able to trigger the powerpoint application. Ideally without having to install some sort of teamviewer / remote desktop app.

@ jguk

The bottom line is that there is no "super simple" way to do this and in most cases involves a third party application or extensive knowledge on networking and port forwarding.
And DWAM is correct that it has been discussed quite a bit of late, but I hear you that many of the threads are all over the map, although related.
Here are some samples:
- https://forums.vmix.com/...g-to-try-something-crazy
- https://forums.vmix.com/...g-vmix-on-remote-desktop
- https://forums.vmix.com/...-vMix-Call-Guest-Control
- https://forums.vmix.com/...iewers-to-launch-a-video

And then there is this relatively new development which offers options for remote access for cloud computing:

(flexihub from the first post above appears to maybe be the most "simple" option for the uninitiated, from my perspective)

IMHO the easiest and most flexible way to do this is to go for the "cloud" solution, either with Powerpoint or Google Slides (I like slides better) which can be used as a browser input or as a NDI feed from another computer

As explained in this video

Not really what I was asking for....

For those who are looking in future, managed to find 2 solutions that are perfect for my needs.

https://octocue.com/

and

https://internetclicker.com

Both seem to be super low latency, and work really well for my use case.

Universalpresenterremote feels a little bit dangerous. That is, who knows what the "Control software" controls on one's PC?...

Well not a huge concern as it is a "SHOW PC" - and gets formatted after each show... and is on another V-Lan from our main network.

Also, the dev now works at Epic Games, so (might just be me, but) I wouldn't think there's too much to worry about.
