Hi,

I’m a newbie with a brand new machine that meets/exceeds vMix minimum requirements.

NDI tools on this machine will receive the NDI just fine. vMix creates thumbnails when selecting the NDI source, but just displays black when you add one as a source.

I found this Knowledge base article: (https://www.vmix.com/knowledgebase/article.aspx/129/diagnosing-blank-ndi-inputs) but it doesn't seem to be any of those things - network is "private", firewall is disabled, everything on the same network switch, wifi is off, etc.

Can anyone think of any other Windows security setting or anything else I can check that would possibly cause this behavior?

Thanks!

Seen this happening once, you could try with uninstalling NDI Tools, restarting your machine, and try again in vMix. It helped in that case and was a needed quick fix, if this also helps in your case, I'd be interested in the why, I hadn't investigated further.

EDIT: And make sure, that also the sending machine is not connected to wifi.

Thanks for the idea. I uninstalled NDI Tools, restarted. Everything is still the same. Any other ideas?

ok, you said that NDI monitor is working fine on the same computer you run vmix. If that is true it means either two things.
#1 your network is exhausted with the one stream.
whatever software you run second should have a blank/black screen. The software you are running first should get a picture
#2 something with vmix. Installation, GPU settings, high performance, fault tolerant input, nvidia settings

Do you get NDI image out of vmix if you use a web source for instance?

1. vMix is running first - NDI source shows blank. Launch NDI Monitor - see NDI source on NDI Monitor

2. I have uninstalled/reinstalled vMix, uninstalled/reinstalled graphics driver, not running high input performance GPU mode in vMix, not running Nvidia. Running a sad graphics card...Intel Iris XE, but is DirectX 12.

I have several available NDI sources. All show a thumbnail when selecting but none show up when added. The local desktop capture will show. I am not sure what you mean by an NDI web source, so I am unsure how to test.

It would be nice to know if vmix can produce an NDI output. I commented that you can try a webpage as an input, send it to program and enable NDI for that output. Then try in NDI Studio Monitor to receive that NDI feed.

@ ckshofner

Any chance you have a 12th Gen Intel CPU with your integrated Iris XE Graphics?
If so, therein lies your problem and you will need to get an NVIDIA gaming GPU to overcome the "deficiencies" of the Iris XE graphics on those CPUs for processing NDI with vMix.

You ever get a solution. Did you turn off High performance mode??? I have an issue similar to yours where every 20 minutes the NDI source goes blank then comes back. Curious if related
