Hello all,

I'm testing out sending SRT feeds to a Nimble server in the cloud and am noticing severe artifacts of the image when I get the return feed. Research tells me that this is caused by the bitrate at certain points of the stream being much lower than the Constant Bitrate being encoded and buffers would help alleviate this. Are there any options/settings/parameters in vmix that might help to reduce this issue?

SRT Settings:
- Type: Caller
- Latency: 160ms (RTT=30ms)
- Quality: H264 15mbps AAC 128kbps (high bitrate needed for quality recording in nimble)
- Hardware Encoder: OFF

Here is an example of what I'm talking about:

Thanks in advance!

As a test lower your bitrate to say 3.5mbps

This is due to packet loss due to insufficient latency configured on the SRT stream, so that value will need to be increased
until the issue is fixed.

Hey Martin,

I've changed the latency configuration but I'm still getting artifacts when the image is still.

Do you know why ?

Thanks in advance!

Same exact issue. only happens when the frame is still. Increasing latency didn't help. Also, it only happened over 4G with 20-30ms in SRT stats.

I see the same issue. We start our broadcasts with a static bumper image. No issues once there is motion in the video.

I still see this all the time sending SRT to and from vMIX.
When I look in the Haivision SRT Gateway, the vMix is sending VBR SRT stream, even if we set 2000ms delay, it still happens.
Graphics in SRT Gateway show perfect internet connection and no dropped frames or resending data packets.
Can't find a setting to set at CBR for the SRT, only keyframes can be set?

hi +1 for CBR for SRT. We need network CBR to have SRT work properly with Brightcove. We see really bad artifacting when we make hard cuts.

Try the free SRTStreamer app. It will take NDI out from vMix and push SRT.
