Having a sound engineering background, I find the screen-side VU meters leave a lot to be desired. They are too fast, not segmented enough, a bit thin and don't deliver any meaningful accuracy.

So for monitoring output sound, they're really not that useable.

A replication of LED meters, with a fading residual peak level segment would be a huge improvement.

Would greatly appreciate this being attended to.

I use Youlean loudness meter for monitoring my output e.g. when streaming.
You can run it as a plugin in the audio settings
