Hi Martin et al,
Re encoding via FMLE 3.2:
- Can FMLE be run on a different server / workstation than that running vMix? - Are there any hardware acceleration options that FMLE itself can leverage? - Do both multiple processors and multiple cores help, at least up to practical limits? - Are there any particular CPU's or hardware configurations best suited for FMLE? - Are any vMix-compatable Windows OS's not compatable with FMLE? Is Server 2008 supported? - Are there any supported alternative hardware or software approaches in lieu of FMLE altogether?
Sorry for all the questions - Adobe would probably best answer many of these but I came up dry searching through what they have documented.
Thanks! David McBride

You can always output to a decklink output device and capture/encode that output on another machine, or any hardware encoder.

1. DeckLink Mini Monitor - brand new product, just playback @ $145, 2. Intensity Pro - both playback and capture @ $199
Any thoughts on Pros and Cons, especially if anyone has any experience with the brand-new 'Mini Monitor'? I guess it'd be nice to have simple capture for an extra $50, but then there's also value in keeping things simple...
Key thing for me is stability - I'm leaning towards a two machine setup - one just for communications (Wowza for bringing in several cameras over WAN, as well as streaming to 'house' monitors and repeating to UStream et al), and the other machine just for vMix and accessories like Flash overlays. This leaves output encoding somewhere between the two servers - any ideas on a supported card solution for bringing the HDMI output of the DeckLink / Intensity into Wowza as H.264?
Thanks again forum - appreciate all the help with 'newbie' questions!
David

Decklink intensity is very well supported, vMix offers direct output to intensity as a seperate option. One thing to know: decklink intensity can only be used as either input or output at a time, not both simultaneously. But if you don't need a seperate output you could also use your graphics cards secondary dvi/hdmi output. If you are running a second machine anyway, take a look at hardware encoders like AVerMedia LiveGamer HD: this is a capture hard that does hardware h.264 compression onboard, for under $200 (last seen at 140€, but prices vary).
