Hello all,
Has anyone managed to use an Expertkeyes EK-128 programmable USB keyboard with VMIX? The keyboard can be easily programmed with its proprietary software to send individual or any combination of key presses in succession such as <Alt+F4> or <Ctrl+C>. Unfortunately this is not useful in Vmix as only the last key is recorded (F4 and C as in the cases detailed above). While this keyboard will work great with other programs, I would really like to use it with VMIX as a switcher.
I was inspired by the way X-Keys works with Vmix (ExpertKeyes EK-158 is a cheaper alternative). Does anyone know how X-keys signals are modified to be seen as MIDI notes? Is there a program I could run in the background to make that happen or is it a question of asking VMIX to make the switcher compatible?
Many thanks and thank you in advance for replying :) George

Since the Expertkeyes output seems to be Key Commands, it's not going to work as an X-keys (with MIDI output) would. I have an Genovation programmable keyboard that doesn't work well with vMix. The Genovation USB keyboards (and older X-keys models) output Key Commands, no MIDI.
You still could use Expertkeys as a switcher. Just create Shortcuts for the keys that vMix recognizes when you create a Shortcuts and use the Find option. Press a key on your Expertkeys and see what vMix indicates. You won't get 128 keys that way, but you might be able to get all the Function keys, and non-alpha/numeric keys represented on your Expertkeys that you can use for shortcuts.
Have you contacted Expertkeys about any of this?

I'm currently waiting for an answer from them... I am curious to find out whether it can be "hacked" to output MIDI notes...

Don't know if vMix would recognize this software conversion as "hardware". http://vmpk.sourceforge.net/If it doesn't, Expertkeys support doesn't have a solution, and you want to keep the EK-128, you might want to think about mapping out which keys do register with Find in add Shortcuts within vMix. Good luck, post what the outcome was.
