Is it feasible to add activators to the web interface? Eg, so I can change the appearance of a button in the web interface to show something is happening?

If the buttons were represented by a choice of (user created) animated GIF images, it would be possible to create blinking and coloured buttons, even buttons with little animations on them, to indicate current status.
