Hi All.
I'm using the registered 9.1.0.31 HD vMix x64 version for a while without problems. Since a couple days when I try to open a preset created before that includes Titles (Title, Animated or Multiview) as input, it returns the vMix Error: Timed out creating WPF thread. The same error occurs opening a new empty preset and trying to add that Titles: Title, Animated o Multiview. Other kind of Titles: Scoreboard, Timer, Ticker are loading correctly.

I'm running the Vmix on a W7 Home Premium Service Pack 1. Last weekend windows did and automatically update. I have deinstalled all that recent updates, just in case, but the result is the same. I have tryied reinstalling the Vmix again, and the same too.

My Hardware:
Intel Core i7 2700K CPU @ 3,5GHz, 16Gb RAM
NVIDIA Geforce GTX670
2 BlackMagic Intensity Pro Cards
1 BlackMagic DeckLink SDI Card
Firewire MOTU Traveler for audio
Solid state HD

I don't know what to do and I don't understand what the problem is. Any idea?.

Regards

Fernando

Hi Fernando,

This does indeed seem like a strange issue.
Have you tried the 32bit version of vMix to see if that is any different?

It may also be worth trying the .NET repair utility:

Hi Again Martin.
The continues. It's very frustrating because I have to use another computer to generate the titles and capture the screen with croma key inside Vmix. Any idea about what is happening. I have a one week streaming event in a couple of weeks and we are testing all the setup.

Do you have a release date for Vmix version 10. Perhaps it could be solved with the new version.

Regards
Fernando

Hi Fernando,

It would be a great help to tracking down this issue if you could run the following tests:

1. Try all of the different title types (title, scoreboard etc) and let me know
exactly which ones work or specifically which ones don't.
I know you have already mentioned some categories that work, but I will need to know which ones in particular
so I can look through them and see what makes them different.

2. I guess you have already tried reinstalling vMix in case the titles are corrupt?

Thanks,

martin

Hi Martin, yes, I tried reinstalling the vmix, and the error persists. Something I tried to is installing vmix in the same machine but in another W7 (I have two W7 installed, one for testing in a HD not Solid State, and the secand one, a solid state HD used for live events where we have the error with titles). Installing in the not Solid State HD, Vmix detects different HD and it says that the license is not valid so I can not use it because the trial period expired a time ago in that W7.

I have tested again and these are the results:

Title, Animated an Multiview: Not working, after a while it returns: "Timed out creating WPF thread" (AddNewInput)
Timer: Empty
Scoreboard, Ticker and Text, working fine.

Regards

Fernando

Sounds like there might be some corrupt fonts on the system.

To test this theory download the attached title in XAML format.
Open it using the XAML option in Add Input in vMix and see if it works.

It is identical to the NewsHD template only I have changed the font.

File Attachment(s):
NewsHD.xaml (3kb) downloaded 19 time(s).

Hi,

If that file worked, the issue is not with the templates in vMix but with some of the fonts installed in your system.
The font in question is "Century Gothic" and is used by a lot of the title templates.

If you haven't already, make sure windows has all the latest windows updates installed. There was a windows update a while back that may have
corrupted some fonts.

Failing that, there doesn't appear to be any simple way of repairing fonts in Windows, but you can try deleting the offending font
to see if that fixes it:

**** WARNING - THE STEPS BELOW WILL MAKE CHANGES TO WINDOWS ****

1. Open Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalisation -> Fonts
2. Find "Century Gothic" in the list and right click and choose "Copy"
3. Right click desktop and click "Paste"

The above steps will create a copy of the fonts in case you need to install them again later.

4. Go back to the "Century Gothic" font in the Control Panel and right click and choose "Delete"
5. Restart windows and see if the titles will load in vMix.

You could also try copying the font from a working system.

Regards,

Martin

Hi Martin,
Problem Solved!

"Century Gothic" wasn't in the fonts folder. I copied it from another system and now I can open all the titles.

Thanks a lot for help!!!.

Regarding the question in my last post about running Vmix in the same machine but in different Operative System, basically to have one for testing and another for running live, is it possible?. The installations are made in two different W7 each one in a Hard Drive.

Regards

Fernando
