Hello everybody.

Is it possible to stream from VMIX in an uncompressed format?
If not uncomoressed, best codec to have low lag, high quality?

I do not need to reach the internet, only another machine that processed the streaming like a digital signal (avoiding the use of a BM intensity pro on each side of the chain).

Thanks,

Federico

Hi

uncompressed video is impossible to stream over a standard ethernet network.
uncompressed video can only be transported by video cables like SDI or HDMI (or fiber optics with special converters)

If you want the best quality I recommend NDI which offers pretty good quality, very short latency and only requires 100/120 Mbits per HD stream. (A gigabit network is required)

That is exactly the scenario for which NewTek's NDI protocol is intended.

thanks both.

Maybe i missed to specify, i'm trasmitting SD content, so i know that uncompressed could be stremed in gigabit networks :D

Does NDI is an open standard, or does it require some kind of royalty?

I had to pair VMIX streaming output to an open source playout server :D

Take time to search the forum please. NDI is included in vMix, there's a lot of information about it in here.

Otherwise : https://www.newtek.com/ndi/applications/

NDI is an option if your playout server supports it. Otherwise you need other streaming protocols or direct av connection through capture cards.

vMix is very powerful in terms of use. The question is what can your playout server ingest?

Ok, following your reply i understood NDI is NOT an open source standard, but is royalty free.

That's an option, non my first ;-)

Start studing the SDK and trying to implement that protocol in Open source Playout video server :D

Thanks

Thx

i'm working with Christos Chasapis in an open source video server solution based on linux and black magic hardware.

temporary name is Cbroadcast server, this is a shot of the server running in my control room:
cbroadcast server

PS: it needs a full hd monitor but i had only a spare 1440x900 screen around :D
