Single keyboard switching sources on two separate vMix machines?

Is it somehow possible to hook up one keyboard and have it switch sources on two independent vMix machines simultaneously?
This would provide great redundancy.

Hi Niemi
it's possible to create a web page with buttons that would send the same commands to 2 vMix.
It's also possible to use vMixUTC that supports keypress triggering. In this case you need to use the widget called "Multi State" in your project to sync commands over 2 vMix.

A kvm switch might also be a solution.

Since it's for redundancy only, in case of a crash, the switch can be switched with the touch of a button to the second computer, no?

I didn't understand it was for crash situation but for simultaneous operations.
Another solution would be to use a midi control device connected to both computers via a USB hub.

Thanks guys. If you are using a single vMix system to do everything - switch, record and live stream, then a system failure becomes very serious. If you can produce on two vMix systems simultaneously, then a single system failure would be unnoticeable. You would have an intact recording and - provided that your live stream provider has two server entry points with seamless failover - your stream would still be running without any interruption. A MIDI control device connected to both computers is interesting, as are your other suggestions DWAM. Do you know of any MIDI control device similar to this USB-keyboard? http://xkeys.com/xkeys/xk24.php

If you want a real safe solution then you need at least a 3 points workflow where cameras are distributed (by a vMix with NDI or a video router) to 2 vMix. Otherwise when your cams are only connected to 1 vMix and pushing inputs to the second one, then you are most likely to encounter an issue on the first one which makes the second useless... BTW I use vMix for 4 years now and I never had an issue. There are plenty of midi devices used with vMix like Akai APC Mini for example Check the forum and the documentation http://www.vmix.com/help18/KeyboardShortcuts.html

Every camera source is distributed with a AJA 3GDA SDI distribution. I now just need the most reliable and comfortable way to switch between sources on both vMix PC's.

DWAM, I don't believe a USB device (say the Akai APC Mini) connected to a USB hub will do trick. At least not the USB-hubs that I'm familiar with, which will simply add additional USB-ports to the one system it is connected to.  I'm looking for a single key press to trigger the same command on two vMix systems.

http://www.usbgear.com/USB20_4port_SHARING_Hub/There are plenty of equivalent models It's even possible to share a usb hard-disk over multiple computers so I don't see why a midi controller would not work. There are also midi replicators over IP. When computer A reveives a command it replicates it to another destination... There plenty of solutions to do it

and in the end if you look at this picture which was one of my setups for a congress, you see I have my laptop and my desktop keyboard next to each other so that I could switch both vMix a the same time with my 2 hands ! ;o) DWAM attached the following image(s):  régie-dwam_cgt.jpg (503kb) downloaded 17 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. A sharing hub doesn't allow both PC's to access the USB-device at the same time. Quite similar to the KVM-switch mentioned earlier.

Maybe the easiest solution is to use vMixUTC anyway as it's meant to do it by default and it allows to do all the switching, the media control and the titles selections from a single point without the need to create a lot of shortcuts on both vMix computers...

Good! Me too... I guess you probably found the tutorials I wrote to get started... Just in case: https://forums.vmix.com/....aspx?g=posts&t=9393It's very powerful... Concerning what you did, for some functions, tick the state dependent option to get "tally-like" leds for status. Ex: recording, streaming, overlays, etc... Also if you need, I can tell you how to add functions (especially for media management). They're not included by default (play, pause, restart, etc...) Have fun!

FYI, vMixUTC runs perfectly on a windows 10 tablet which is really cool for production: switching on a touch screen is really cool!
However, the touch feature is not very convenient for building the interface so it's better to develop the project on a regular PC and simply move the .VMC file on the tablet later on.
