I would like to see the ability to configure both the input and the output audio inside of vMixCall. The ability to have the vMixCall audio output go directly to a soundcard and have the audio input to vMixCall be an aux send from a hardware mixer. This feature would allow users with an advanced audio mixing setup to take full advantage of vMixCall.

Nick,

I think you can already do that using Bus A and B on a second audio card (or a multiple channel one)

If you don't already use Bus A and B. I already use them so having the direct audio out is necessary.

I see this opening a whole new line of possible enhancements in vMix. Both how it handles audio and multiple, multiple video inputs (translation: more than 5 Multivuew sources).

Maybe the answer here is to ask for more audio busses?

I suspect there may be other people like Nick who want to make use of (more versatile) external audio mixer hardware (with real buttons, knobs and faders) and divide the operational tasks between different people (so one person can look after audio whilst another switches the video). That would be a reason for wanting external audio I/O routing.

Spot on! Anyone that has an advanced mixing setup with mix-minus already setup this vMixCall feature won't work.

Nick, you may be misunderstanding who this feature is intended for. This is intended for the people who don't want to worry about mix-minus or even try to understand it. This is for the folks that just want to fire up their PC and go. Not worry too much about the technical details. Having said that, I'll use it a bunch. ;)

For more advanced broadcasters that use m/m and do other processing to their audio, there may need to be a different solution. Maybe a check box, that disables the vMix Call m/m and allows that audio to be routed to a different audio bus, but still allows vMix Call to bring in the guest's video as an input, not a screen capture.

But, as a work in process, you gotta admit it's pretty cool.

Would love to see audio bit rate options as per video. Maybe 128k, 192k, and 384k.

As I say in multitrack audio recording of inputs I don't know anything about ASIO. Just wondered if vMix could act as I/O for ASIO. If so, that would be an option for routing vMixCall audio.

Perhaps some ASIO knowsalots could fill in here.

Even though vMixCall might be intented for people who don't want to worry, I am very much interested and worried ;)

Gentlemen!!! Dreaming when You will have the ability to record the audio on the principle of video multicorder! If I have 12-18 inputs audio via ASIO and I need to record each separately for post production!!! THIS IS MY DREAM FROM YOUR SOFTWARE!

This need happens 2-3 times a week, but it's not enough and you have to invent the wheel! Can you make a separate module??

Not even necessarily by ASIO, according to the chamber entrances, but I can't record audio inputs from 4 separate inputs from the master copy. IT'S SOOO UNCOMFORTABLE

Hi,

This thread was pointed out on Facebook, so I thought I would clarify how you can manually route audio using vMix and vMix Call.

vMix and Audio Busses
vMix provides 4 audio busses in total: Master, Headphones, A and B and these can be routed out of audio interfaces
using Settings -> Audio Outputs.
http://www.vmix.com/help19/AudioOutputs.html

These work exactly like AUX busses in audio mixers so users should feel right at home setting these up if they are used to external audio mixer routing.

Routing vMix Call Input and Output to Audio Busses

Audio To Guest: Select the audio bus to send the guest when adding the vMix Call input using the Audio Source dropdown box:
http://www.vmix.com/help19/VideoCallSetup.html

Audio From Guest: Find the added vMix Call input in the vMix audio mixer and configure it to send to only Master, Headphones, A or B as needed.
http://www.vmix.com/help19/vMixCallAudio.html

Single caller example

For a single caller setup would be as follows:

1. In Settings -> Audio Outputs, assign a spare audio interface channel to A
2. Add the mix minus audio from the interface into vMix and use the vMix Audio Mixer to assign it to B
3. Add the vMix Call input and set Audio Source to B
4. From the vMix Audio mixer set the Call input to A

Two caller per PC example

If you have a dedicated PC just for remote guests, you could configure vMix to replace two Skype or Zoom instances as follows:

Call 1
Audio From Guest: Route to Bus A
Audio To Guest: Set to Master (add audio input, and set to M in audio mixer)

Call 2
Audio From Guest: Route to Bus B
Audio To Guest: Set to Headphones (add audio input, untick M and enable S (solo) in Audio Mixer)

It is important to note that everything vMix Call does routes through the audio mixer by design, this is how automatic mix minus is possible
for producers using vMix for the entire production which makes things incredibly simple if users are prepared to take the leap!

This is the reason why you can't directly select sound cards for inputs and outputs of a call input, but you can achieve similar results
by taking advantage of the busses as described above.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Martin
vMix

Direct ins and outs for vmixcall would be a game changer.
