Hi!

I think it would be very useful to send back preview to vMixCall

I do a lot of Skype calls in live events where PGM (the remote guest) is sent to a beamer or another switcher. I usually use PREVIEW (set for external2) to be able to easily switch sources for the remote guest especially when they need to follow their own PPT slides in full screen or to show them the presenter on stage or anyone asking a question in the audience.

When the remote guest is fullscreen in PGM it's useless to send them back their own image with a delay: they don't like/want it, they want to see what's happening in the venue, the persons they're talking to, the media they're talking about.

I know we can do it with EXT2 and shortcuts, but sub-switching to PREVIEW is much easier and quicker to setup and EXTERNAL2 remains usable for other purpose.

I think PGM + PVW (+ EXT2 for 4K and Pro versions) is a good choice for most use cases. Maybe someday we also have an option for the requested AUX/MATRIX special input which would be a perfect input type for that also...
Another option would be add an input choice but it would be to restrictive as we can't change it once the connection is made.
So I guess the only missing option is preview.

I agree with Tom, why limit to Preview?

Of course it depends on how vMix Call's return video selection is implemented. But I would say that ideal options are:
- Output
- Preview
- External
- External2
- Any Input

And that which return to use could be selected by any of:
- right-click option in the vMix Call Input
- via a shortcut (including API)

I have nothing against more options but to me PVW is the most useful and convenient and should we only have one more option, then I'd prefer PVW.

As I said before, I know remote guests don't want/like to see themselves in return (and they don't need it, they already have their cam view) so PGM or EXT is not an option for me/them.
I usually use EXT2 with remote guest in fullscreen to feed a beamer, directly or thru a 2nd vMix or an analogway device. So EXT2 is not an option either.

Multiviewer? I wouldn't do that. OK it could...

Fixed inputs? Why not? But I know it's more interesting to be able to switch several inputs and show the remote guest different things. Ok I could use a multiview input for this, but it requires a lot of shortcuts and prep and it's difficult to monitor.

So unless Martin adds an EXT3 (where I would put PVW anyway) I think PVW is really the missing option for vMix Call return feed. ANd I think there is nothing to develop to add it as an option.

Guillaume, I think we both have made our points regarding what to send to vMixCall.

Don't wanna hi-jack this request, but I am still curious if anyone else see the need to be able to change the Return feed once the Call Input has been created? For example, if it was Output be able to change it to External2, or Preview for that matter ;)

Well to use lingo from hardware vmix is a single me switcher ,u can use preview for a second me but with no transitions

Multiview is essential for us. Our remote co-hosts need to be able to see what is in preview and also what is in other shots.

A BIG +1 !!!

We've just started using 2 way vMix to vMix using vMixCall to implement a video campus for our church. This technology has made it a HUGE success! We send a sermon feed to the remote campus, and so that everyone "feels included" we regularly cutaway to shots of each congregation, with the remote campus congregation camera fed back via vMixCall.

We currently implement a second vMixCall, from a utility webcam at the remote campus, so the tech team can see what's happening at the remote site ... which we have needed to do via a browser connection (running alongside vMix on the remote PC), as external2 is already used for our cutaway shot. Further to that, if we could, we would love to set up a second cutaway camera at the remote campus.

The limited choice of output/external2 on return feeds, seems arbitrary ... could you add to this selection all the sources available to external2?

This request has been implemented :) If you have/upgrade to vMix 4K or Pro.

Edit: clarification, you have two more Outputs available. For example, assign Preview to Output3 and use it as vMix Call return video.
